How much do you think this event is going to cause the price of an AR to rise? I'm guessing we see a 20%+ increase in the coming months if not weeks due to limited supply. I'm willing to bet everyone who has been putting off buying one isn't going to put it off for fear of a ban coming in the near future.

What are your predictions about pricing and availability?

I think Concealed Carry will be the biggest pick-up. Just me though. That being said, I'll probably stock up on some brownells mags.

Tough call. Everyone is in a panic right now but it might calm soon. Hard to gauge. I wonder if Colorado will do a ban of some sort.

Not at all. CO may try to enact some 1/2 ass knee jerk reaction to show "we care".
However the only way this would happen is if the same lame ass gun owners who felt other laws were ok, side with the state. WE are a major voting block and this election year any attempt to bring up gun laws would be a death bell for O's crowd.
NOW...............after the election, that's another story, as legislatures will have 2 years before they can be tossed out.

I have already had several friends ask for a good reference on where to go.

I bet the local small shops will raise prices for a few weeks, but things will settle back down after a while. I think the biggest impact we will all see is it will be hard to find ammo. I bet there will be an increase in AR and handgun sales here and nation wide, but not to the point that there will sold out all over.

me too! I've had 3 used to be anti-gun friends tell me that they have made up their minds to get their CCW, and ask me for gun advice.

Maybe they will change the law to NO CCW required like Vermont and Arizona...I'd vote for that!

I don't think there will be any increase in AR prices. I either of the candidates would try and politicize this... It would be political suicide too many emotions involved.

What would happen if they do ban hi cap mags and "Assault weapons" to the people that already own them? I am from California and if I remember right when they banned AR15's and AK47's and all of the other guns that met that criteria if you owned one you were Grandfathered in. I was kind of wondering myself how likely it would be for them to ban these kind of firearms? I was going to pick one up but I do not want to be one of those people that freaks out and runs out and buys every round of ammo and AR15/AK47 they can get there hands on, especially if there is nothing to worry about. I am already in the poor house anyway so I guess I would be kind of screwed.

I think they might run their mouths about it for a while. I imagine that if one DID pass, they would have to grandfather the existing ones. I don't think anybody wants to try to confiscate our AR's and AK's. It would be even more senseless bloodshed.

You're not from England, Australia or Canada then are you. It's worked overseas and here met with moderate success such as, CA. Gun registration, ALL PRE 99 semi-automatics that are on the CADOJ list must be registered with them IF you happen to have one on you and not correct paperwork, GFL.
15 rd maximum in NJ, NO CCW issued, very anti gun Mayor of NYC who would like to have every gun seized and no longer legal, City of Chicago, need i go on.

Yeppers no one would ever attempt to confiscate our AR's or AK's.

That didn't quite come out the way that I intended. I'm not one of the "it'll never happen here" people. I am very aware of our second ammendment infringements on our own soil. I just don't forsee an immediate confiscation threat stemming from this particular incident. The UN Arms Trade Treaty may pose a legitimate threat for confiscation, but there would most likely be a bit of work leading up to that event. My bet is that registration requirements, and a Clinton style AWB would be a precursor to confiscation. If they just went straight for the goods, going door to door to confiscate semi-auto rifles etc, then they would stand a good chance of dealing with an unprecidented blood bath. If they wanted to confiscate guns, they would have to be more methodical with their approach. Just this 22 year old's opinion.

I don't remember it that way. There was no grandfather clause for weapons. You had to register them.

I don't remember it that way. There was no grandfather clause for weapons. You had to register them.If you had that style of weapon you could keep it, yes you had to register it. Also you could not sell it if I remember. That is pretty much what I meant by grandfathered in. I was only 14 in 1994 so I am going off of what I was told by family members that owned those kind of guns.

My buddy went to pick up a pistol today from Sportsmans at 3:30pm and said he had to wait 2 hours for CBI meanwhile a mass amount of people came in picking all the guns off the shelf.

It's practically impossible to (legally) own a handgun or defensive rifle in NYC RIGHT NOW. WTF is this a-hole Bloomberg whining about?

Head Lines. His anti-gun agenda needed to be put back on track. This shooting highlights what he has been saying for years.
It has always been impossible to acquire a permit for target use, handgun and or rifle for decades.
Legal ownership never unless you're politically connected. or retired PD. Once off madhatten or the other 4 boroughs and ownership becomes easier, again target/range permit.

Yep. Politicians using a tragedy for personal gain, as usual.

He's after all guns because the illegal guns in New York City come from outside New York. He wants to solve the NYC high crime problem by taking guns at the source, that is the people in low crime states. That illogic is used by a lot of the anti-gun people as a excuse to ban all guns, even where there isn't a crime problem.
