Really? My last flight, no one touched me, I scanned my ticket, put my laptop bag on the thingy with my shoes, and walked through the metal detector grabbing my stuff as I went on. [Beer] Maybe that was because they were busy patting down an old lady at the time though.

Nothing is certain of course. But Jeanne Assam showed us how its done and that it can be done.
It looks like Holmes was a schizophrenic looking for attention. These types do fold up quickly in the face of serious resistance, and we see confirmation of that in that he quit quickly in the face of arriving PD.
The TSA should be abolished altogether. There is NO LEGITIMATE REASON for TSA searches of passengers on trains and buses, yet it happens. If you want to set up TSA style checkpoints at every theater, theme park, and nightclub many people will stop going. No-one wants to go out for a nice time and then be subject to watching their children, wife, or mother officially molested, treated like a common criminal, and be told there is nothing wrong with that.
Some venues have metal detectors and very polite and professional guards who behave nothing like TSA, who often act like creeps or bullies. No other country has TSA -- they just have security guards with SMGs and are free to search suspicious individuals without fear of being labeled "politically incorrect." With properly hardened cockpits and Air Marshals 911 will never happen again in this country. The thing is, some in government like having that level of control over citizens and want to expand it even more. That is not conducive to a free society and makes me ashamed of my government.

That may well be, but personally I'm getting really fuckin' tired of taking off my belt to go through that damn body scanner. Seems every time I get up to the metal detector in the left most lanes after the premium line, they shut it down in front of me and I get stuck in a long line at the scanner. They must like to see my girlish figure in that thing.
Not sure what happened to the TSA rapid pass that United was supposed to bring to frequent flyers going out DIA. I know DFW has it with AA.

I guarantee you that TSA at movie theaters would be there to stop people from bringing in outside food and prevent pirates from video recording the movies NOT keep people from mass murder.
TSA is already security theater.
The only thing that would really prevent something like this is to ban theaters.
