Noticed the smoke coming home from a ride today. Photos are from my deck. The fire appears to be about due northwest from my home, approximately 2 miles.

Fortunately there's a lot of burned area between here and there so risk appears to be minimal for now. We'll see how that pans out overnight and into tomorrow. Estimated at 5 to 10 acres currently.

Taken at 1920 hours today:

We had some hellacious lightning up here yesterday. And this in a very hard to get to area...my guess it was a lightning strike.

jeez...it never ends.

The west is getting fires, the coastal areas get the hurricanes and tropical stops, the west coast gets the quakes and mudslides.

Hope they get it under control quickly.

If by chance it gets out of control and people need help moving things out, PM me and I'll be glad to help you out

There is smoke on Blodgett Peak near AFA today. Gazette reports the Forest service is watching it anf the fire is a stand of trees within the waldo canyon burn area.

Even though this one looks pretty "minor", it's still nerve-wracking. Thanks, sniper.

This is getting to be all too common of an occurrence. Hope it stays low risk. Best of luck.

The winds are still light but must've shifted. Strong smoke smell in the house now.

Makes my stomach turn. I imagine you'll have a restless night. Hang in there, and holler if you need anything.

No new developments overnight. Barely a hint of smoke from the fire this morning. Cool (56 deg) and no wind at all. Might get lucky with this one.

Little to no smoke from taking an up high look. Hopefully we have dodged this one.

Too close is when an idiot shoots a flare into the air and it lands in the dry brush by the lake on Memorial day, burned about an acre with high winds before the PCFD got her out. Fortunate it was grass, no trees and dirt road 360 degrees around the perimiter.
about 100 yards from my house.
