It would be wonderful if insane people would not shoot people. It would be wonderful if insane people would not stab people. It would be wonderful if drunk people would not kill people while driving their automobiles. It would be wonderful if drug addicts would not kill people to steal $5.00 from them.....to buy more drugs.
I attended a local gun show today. It is typically a VERY SLOW GUN SHOW. No lines....heck.....hardly anyone there at all normally.
Today Channel 9 News was there......interviewing people going into the show.
I walked around. It was not easy. There were people from wall to wall. I overheard MANY conversations.....not whispers....but strikingly loud voices. People conveying the outrage over what happenned in a movie theater.
Families- children in tow. Not people in panic mode.....but people who for varying reasons.....felt that.....protection....legal protection.....from insane people.....was all of a sudden......... a very good idea.
There are approximately 300 million firearms owned by people in the United States. 300 MILLION. That is 9 firearms.....for every 10 people....alive today.
ONE.....insane person.....out of 300,000,000.00 people did something HORRIBLE, UNFORGIVABLE and EVIL.....a day ago. I hope he fries for it.
71 people are killed EACH AND EVERY DAY....in the United States....by drunk drivers.
71 Today............71 yesterday...........71 tomorrow....and every day to come.
EVERY SINGLE YEAR........708,000 people will be injured by drunk drivers....just in the United states. Read that again please......708,000 people.
Ponder it. Feel free to challenge me on it. But.......don't drive after 8pm.
80% of all alcohol related deaths happen after 8 pm.
If you are 35 years old. You have a 50% chance of being killed in an automobile collision during your life. 1....in two. The odds don't get much worse than that.
299,999,999 people who own guns.........did not walk into a movie and hurt anyone anyone in the last couple of day.
Drunk drivers.......killed 142 innocent people in the last couple of days. And tomorrow, 71 more innocent people will be killed.
The problem is not firearms.....the problem is idiots.

Awesome. I won't post it on Facebook, because Facebook is gay (literally) but I will use it on a different blog. If you don't care about copyright infringement. [Beer]

There's only one major flaw in your argument. LOGIC. Logic doesn't register with anti-gun types. Emotion does.

I completely agree with you about Facebook.
To the OP. Great post

Yeah, I have a problem with your stats too. Keep in mind, we are on the same side. But 50% mortality by being in car is simply inaccurate. And there are further manipulations of the stats you quoted; apparently someone morphed the number of firearms in the country into a false correlation of the populous. You can't claim "ONE.....insane person.....out of 300,000,000.00 people" when the "300,000,000" figure is quantifying firearms, not people.
Again, we are on the same side. But I find it underhanded when journalists or other leftists manipulate statistics to falsly support their claims, so I feel that we must be above that, and above reproach. We don't need such trickery to support our position.

This. If it did, this argument wouldn't exist. But I like the sentiment.

Used published stats. Not spinning things just offering a perspective. Check State farm for collision stats. Gun stats from various sources.

Take some time to look up the 50% Stat...on being killed in a car collision. I was first told that in Accident Reconstruction School in Austin. Verified it a few days ago. Astonishing....but true if a person drives for approximately 60 years in the USA.

I used your top portion, and added a new bottom to it. I hope you don't mind. [Beer]
The problem is not alcohol, cars, or firearms, the problem is idiots. What is listed above are the facts about auto related accidents because it is something that everyone can relate to. What I think is important to note here, is that stupid, insane, crazy (whatever your name for them is) people, don't care about you or your family. They don't care about rules, laws, or morals. I feel bad for the victims of the Aurora shooting that were touched by one of these kinds of people, I really do. Now more than ever though, I will tell whoever is reading this to learn how to protect yourself, and your family. I carry not because I'm afraid, but because I'm prepared, this is one of those "it is better to have and not need, than to need and not have" kind of things. Why do you wear a seatbelt? Is it because you are afraid of getting into an accident? Do you expect to get into an accident? Or are you merely prepared? As being prepared goes, I bet I will never have to unholster my firearm, and for that I am greatful, but it will always be with me in case I lose that bet. I carry because a random act of violence, is just that, a random act that can happen to anyone, anywhere and turn any of us into a statistic. I carry because I want to be prepared in case I have to protect my family, myself, or those that can't, or choose not to protect themselves. I carry because, well, I care.
I'll have you guys know the ACTUAL facts here...
over 300 MILLION guns in America, and not a single one of them killed anyone. When was the last time you saw a gun sitting in the chair next to a defense attorney? Oh that's right, never! [Coffee]

My coworker died in that head-on last year in Fountain where this particular nut was going northbound in the I-25 SB lanes. Sweetest coolest, prettiest, most fun girl you'd ever wanna' meet. The guy who killed them [and hisself] was a soccer teacher at a party, and was probably too macho to give up his keys. As soon as he got in his car he became a monster.
When are the liberals gonna' realize that we are just not that advanced a species as we give ourselves credit for. And we are severely lacking with social evolution. Fact is, i think we're going the other way.
That movie theater bastard needs to be drawn and quartered on national television and all children need to see it...and told that this is what happens to you when you kill innocent people, especially children. "So...don't...be...a...killer"!
