hey liberal dumbass...how about we ban assault and murder.

Wait, you say we allready made it illegal to murder someone? So, how is it possible, that people get murdered? Because evil people do evil things. And no amount of legislation or enforcement will ever stop evil.

You're beautiful, lol...

F*ck this prick! [Stick] .

What does the amount of ammo this guy had have to do with anything? AWB would have nothing to do with ammo.

At what point in time did anybody get the idea that Perlmutter is relevant to anything?

Worthless toolbag.

If you're new to the anti-gun scene, they've been trying to regulate ammo for decades too, with taxes, most recently micro-stamping, etc.

Basically if you push the cost of ammo to $10-$20 a round you solve (in their minds) the "gun problem".

So as an anti, you need to get the "ammo problem" out there in the spotlight too.

In other words, throw enough <deleted> against a wall, and hope some of it sticks.

I, and likely many here, have many thousands of rounds in my basement. However I am a law abiding citizen and not a raving lunatic.

after the report, my wife said why did he have 6000 rounds. so I took her up to the bedroom closet and showed her what 6000 rounds looked like (just in 5.56 and 7.62) . It sounds like a lot....but in actuality I bet most of us have more than that at home

Carney told reporters yesterday that the president is instead “focused on doing the things that we can do that protect Second Amendment rights which he thinks is important but also make it harder for individuals who should not under existing law have weapons to obtain them.”

But of course he's lying, right?

On a fun day at the range I go through about 500 rounds of 556, 200 rounds of 308, 500 rounds of 762x39, 500 rounds of 5.39, 200 rounds of 9mm, 100 rounds of 45acp , 100 rounds of 40 and 10 rounds of 50 cal. Then throw in a shotgun, mauser or mosin heck 6000 rounds does not last a long time. I am sure that every member here buys in bulk because they like to shoot a lot to. However cost neccesitates buying in bulk because in two months that 219.00 case of AK ammo may not be around or it may priced 50.00 dollars more. I am also a good citizen and the fact that somebody would try to stop my freedom to buy what I want is wrong. I don't feel it is my business to tell others who they can marry or dip there private parts in so back off, sexual deiviance damages society far more than firearms. I could go on and on.

Didnt his AR jam? I would assume that a lot of the carnage came from the 870 and the 2 glocks....

Again the AWB would have stopped nothing.

BBC is reporting the bit about his AR jamming as a good thing, because it made him switch to weapons with less firepower, probably saving lives. It makes me sick how "reputable" journalist organizations haphazardly spew ignorance as if it were fact. Morons. [Rant1]

So much for an efficient and easy to use weapon. And 8 rounds of 00B from a shotgun is what, 72 .32 caliber projectiles flying around? That seems so much safer than 100 .223 caliber projectiles.

A shotgun loaded with buckshot is much more lethal in a movie theatre in my opinion.

The Beta-C mag jamming probably did save lives. I fail to see how this is haphazardly spewing ignorance.

It is ignorant speculation that his other weapons were "lesser firepower" than the AR. As Stenz pointed out, a shotgun would arguably be more effective in such a space.

ETA: this sort of speculation implies that an AR platform is somehow more deadly than a shotgun or a handgun. This line of thinking leads to banning of specific weapon types.

Yes and no - Carney's statement simply reflects political reality. A new AWB won't make it through the current Congress and Obama doesn't want to back something he knows won't get passed. All he would achieve by calling for a new AWB would be to further energize the "bitter clinger" crowd and raise money for the NRA.

He (and Romney) are going out of their way to NOT politicize this tragedy. Notice how both campaigns have taken their ads off the air? Obama is going to leave the politicization to others. He'll just sign the new AWB if it happens to land on his desk. That would be in line with his previously stated policy goals and stance on 2A issues.

If a ban were set in place would exising owners get grandfathered in? Or would all current owners be forced to sell their firearms out of state/county/city?

So instead of reinstating the AWB, the govt should start subsidizing Beta-C.

I need to work on this more. I'm too broke, too young, or too stupid to not be stockpiling faster.

I like how people want to ban hi cap mags too. People at work were talking about how we should regulate the sale of ammo and hi cap mags. I don't know how I work with these people but I guess they like the game of chance, if you give me less that is the lower the chance I have to defend myself.

Nobody knows.

If there's going to be another ban introduced, it hasn't been yet. So nobody knows what it will or won't say and what it will or won't prohibit.

Carney told reporters yesterday that the president is instead “focused on doing the things that we can do that protect Second Amendment rights which he thinks is important but also make it harder for individuals who should not under existing law have weapons to obtain them.”

Under existing law, does that include straw purchasers working on behalf of sout-of-the-border drug gangs?

This is funny since every time I go to the woods I do the same thing. Its a pain in the ass dragging all that crap 450 yards off the main roads/trails then dragging it all back again!

Didn't he start with the shotgun, then go to the AR, then use the pistol when that jammed? What would be the reaction of Perlmutter if he just fired the shotgun and then had no AR, just using the pistol? Isn't that just as much as a tragedy?
