Anyone hear Bill O'Reilly on Fox tonight? He sounded like a real moron, arguing with a conservative congressman (name escapes me) that:
- Holmes purchased 60,000 rounds (I heard 6,000 from several sources)
- Using a vague term "heavy duty weapons", saying that all sales of "heavy duty weapons" should be reported to the FBI
- At first, it sounded like Heavy duty weapons included bazookas and machine guns, but later on seemed to include any semi-automatic firearm
- The congressman pointed out that the BATF is notified of firearm purchases, but O'Reilly seemed to disagree with that, including the tax stamp required to purchase machine guns[M2]
- O'Reilly seemed incoherent and confused at times, very much on his soapbox that he had the solution to prevent mass murders. Was somewhat embarrassing to watch -while I don't think O'Reilly is conservative on many issues, I tend to agree with most of his positions. But not this one...

I just emailed him and bet him dinner on 3 different points.
Full auto BATF&E cert and chief LEO sign off.
Artillery, mortars?
NRA and support of project exile.
I also told him that if dinner does now work he can donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Shame on O'Reilly. Think most times he just likes to hear the sound of his own voice.

I hate shows like O'reilly's. I think the point to find something argue about and criticize. Degenerate spoon fed media garbage.
Amazing how our betters make millions of dollars, control our lives, and have respect in this warped society...when they are so flippin wrong about most things.
Douches in Hollywood, DC, and the Press have no concept of the 2nd Amend and the rules/regulations they have caused to prevent the RTKABA. A simple 30 minutes of reading would set most of them right. How difficult is it to learn what an assault rifle really is, laws regarding ownership of NFA items, and buying firearms/accessories?
None of the channels/papers/pundits can get it right. Even FOX screwed it up. Still surprised how many are saying that the AR15 was banned in 1994. Never happened. Plenty of ARs were made during that ten years- just without those dangerous bayonet lugs, deadly flash hiders, and pesky 30 rd mags.
Shame on O'Reilly. Think most times he just likes to hear the sound of his own voice.
The good news is that when they try to enact more gun laws they will more than likely screw something up and leave loopholes. Like how you can still get new ar15s in cali and high cap mags.

O'Reilly has always been a scumbag of the highest order.
He has never been conservative nor has he ever supported individual liberty or freedom
He has always been about his own ego and celebrity status.

Just sent the following note to OReilly:
Bill,
As a regular watcher of the OReilly factor on Fox, I appreciate your usual understanding of most issues and asking insightful questions. However, on the Tuesday program you hosted Rep. Jason Chavetz (spelling?) for a discussion around Gun Control. While I respect your position, and understand it is significantly different than mine, it was painful to listen to your misstatement of facts.
You said many times that Mr Holmes had purchased 60,000 rounds of ammunition. This is clearly wrong, as the authorities have consistently stated that Mr Holmes had purchased 6,000 total rounds.
Here is just one reference; countless others are available:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/four-guns-and-6000-rounds-of-ammunition-james-holmes-chilling-purchases-prior-to-the-shooting/
If your point of view is that doesn’t matter, then why not just say 6 Trillion rounds or something equally irresponsible? As a legal gun owner and concealed carry permit holder, I practice shooting usually twice per week to keep my skills up. I generally shoot between 120 and 180 rounds each session, so an average of about 150 rounds. If I had 6,000 rounds in my possession, that would last approximately 20 weeks, not so very long. I do find it necessary (to me) to shoot that many rounds that often since I find I need to shoot often to keep my skills up and frankly I enjoy shooting (standing) as a change of pace from my office-based job in the legal field. Like many “antis” you seem to have a fixation and fascination with the number of rounds that someone owns. I don’t believe law-abiding and legal citizens owes you, or anyone else, an accounting of what they own.
You were also completely flummoxed by the background check and tax stamp/BATF requirements that Rep. Chavetz described. You sounded like an idiot describing a vague term you called “heavy duty weapons” or something like that which seemed to include artillery, mortars, and machineguns – and later seemed to include any semi-automatic firearm. Bill, pure and simple you are ignorant when it comes to firearms and really should study up on purchase requirements for handguns, rifles, and class III devices – and C&R (curio and relic) firearms. I frankly felt embarrassed for you. You are pretty quick to berate guests that don’t know what they were talking about. Unfortunately, this time you didn’t know what you were talking about and Rep. Chavetz did.
Bill, as one who genuinely does like and watch your program, you need to raise your game if you want to keep my respect and viewership.
Best Regards

Very nice turn of phrase. Mind if I steal it?

Not at all.
While I am under no illusions that OReilly will read my note (some staffer might, then discard), I just had to get that off my chest.

When Glen Beck has to point out how silly bazookas? Unless it was a comic wrapped bubble gum I don't remember seeing that stuff at the local fun show. Lets pass a law and let the law makes figure out what a heavy weapon is? ahh way to go Billy'boy - what little good - sent off my own picture of a canon as what heavy weapons are..

O'Reilly is a left coast idiot. He cannot help it. He does not know how real midwest or westeners live. Big SUV, fine women and lots of guns. If he would pry his butt out of California he would be more in line with middle america.

O'Reilly is a New Yorker (Long Islander/Nassau county) - does his show from the Fox studios in Manhattan. But either way left coast/right coast this isn't a guy raised with firearms or from a firearm-friendly culture. The problem with ignorance is you don't know what you don't know - in other words you sound stupid even when you don't realize how stupid you sound. My sense is O'Reilly is really hearing it the past few days. If he smart he will become educated. If he is dumb, he will either ignore the subject in the future or else continue to spout ignorance.
