Damn...that is a soldier. Imagine if everyone acted with the kind of courage, bravery and valor that this man had. The country (and the world) would be a LOT better of a place.

What a mountain of character... helluva a man. I heard about him while I was in, someone even said "We've got the Audie Murphy award, but they should make a Benavidez Award too... for that badass MFer that doesn't know what the word "quit" is."

I read his book when I was a kid. The crazy thing is that he was originally shunned by the Congressional Medal of Honor community because they felt that he "campaigned" for his honor.

Last summer I started a project where I went to several gravesites and snapped a picture of some of our famous soldiers. I then wrote a small story about them and posted it up on my Facebook page. Just a reminder of some of the sacrifices our fellow soldiers made. Not all have died in the line of duty but were a major factor in some way or another. I planned of visiting Benavides grave site if I made it down to TX. Google Maximo Yabes he is burried at FT. Logan. Another BAMF!
