I recently purchased a Rem 700 in 308 that I am going to build into a hunting/semi-target rifle. I basically have the rifle planned out to have a B&C A2 stock, and then put a 20-22 inch fluted heavy barrel on. I would like to be able to use it in the sporting rifle match.

I am trying to keep the price of this rifle under $1k, but if not, then I'll just have to invest more. Do any of you have a suggestion for scopes? I looked at the 10x fixed, but foudn you can only see fur under 60 yards. I am looking more at a 2.5-4 on low end and 10-16 on high end. If I can stay around $200-250, that would be good. I have found some scopes in my price range. Does anyone have experience with these, good or bad?
I've had good luck with my Sightrons in the past, but I hat to get tunnel vision. Thanks in advance.

I have a Millett TRS-1 on my .22 trainer. It's surprisingly good. I ran it through my little scope testing routine, and it seem very mechanically sound. The glass is $300 glass, but then that what you'd expect. It's available in mil/mil if you're into that sort of thing.

SWFA Super Sniper would be the bottom end of what I would recommend and that has proven reliable in the field matches such as SRM .

I have one also and am very pleased with it for $300. A bit heavy though for a hunting scope if you have to hump your gear very far.

I just found out the Sightron SII is a Big Sky model, so that may be my choice, if I am able to purchase it for the price I am looking at it. I already put a bid in on it before I saw the Millet TRS-1 here on our site. I have a few days to see how it plays out.
