I'd like some to hear your thoughts on Loveland. My dad was asking me how it is(possible job opportunity) and I've never been so any help would be much appreciated until I'm able to make the drive up.

Thanks

Nice town, I just moved to Loveland from Fort Collins. Don't know about the job situation here, but things are generally pretty close you could find work in the out laying towns.

It's a putrid hell-hole... j/k

It's quaint, and has that suburban cowpoke vibe to it. Traffic is better than most areas, except it gets busy during ski season.

Loveland is a nice area. Now since Centerra has developed as fast as it has, there is just about every store that you would want to go shopping at. It is not too crowded, although 287 has heavy traffic most of the time. There is a lot of fishing and boating around close by, but most lakes require a Larimer parks pass for entry or have a daily fee. There is a lot of hiking and biking in the mountains close by. Most trails allow horses if that is what he does. If he is an outdoor kinda guy there is a ton of stuff there.

Uhhh, wrong Loveland? :D

Ski season doesn't have much affect on NoCo. Loveland Ski Area, yeah, it can get a little busy in the winter time.

OP: Loveland/Fort Collins is a really nice area to live; good schools, great community, slowly starting to lean a little towards the earthy/Boulder-ish side (but not too bad).

Stay away from Greeley/Evans area if looking for houses. It's a sh!t-hole.

Loveland is super nice and has most of what ft fun has with out all the extra people and college kids. We wish we would of held out and got a house in ft fun the schools in loveland downright suck and are horrible. If you dont have kids in schoolit is an awesome town.

BS: The west side of that area is literally into Milliken and Windsor. Know the geography prior to bashing. Stay away from the Norte and East side of town.

It's tolerable traffic, clean, good schools nearby, great prototyping shops and art community if you invent stuff. Has a financially responsible government, great local airport, probably 50 good restaurants, wide age range with plenty of local recreation. 3 good golf courses in town. Generous people live there. I chose to live there.

Interesting discourse there... IMHO, Greeley is a lot like Longmont. If you stay in certain neighborhoods, it's nice. If you go to certain area, you cross over the border. Ghetto, ghetto, ghetto. Lived there in college and wouldn't again.

Windsor and Milliken are not Greeley... they are both nicer than Greeley, and they are close proximity, but it's not the same. Also to consider is if you have kids... The Weld County School District is a mess (as most public schools are) and I most definitely would not put my kids in school there....

My two cents on Greeley...

Don't know the school districts as I don't have kids but since moving to Milliken nearly 4 years ago from Ft Worth, TX, this place is like heaven to me. LOW property taxes, nice small town and close enough to Loveland, Ft Collins, etc for my shopping and whatnot. Johnstown is also a very nice little town.

One of the guys that works for me lives in Loveland and his property taxes are crazy in comparison.

I'm happy with it for now as long as the cancer (gangs, ghetto BS) that seems to be taking over Greely doesn't start to appear here.

And since Elk bomb started in business here, it's even got a little gun shop that is AWESOME in the reloading supply department.

No problem. When someone says greeley all they think about is illegals. gang bangers and Swift / Monfort.
Greeley is city limits is literally 5 minutes from our place.
Then again jreifsch lives in greeley so, yeah maybe you're right.

I lived in Evans for 7 years, just blocks from where the POS gang banger Reyes murdered Deputy Sam Brownlee. I saw first hand what poor city planning & management does to a city. When I bought my place, it was a decent, albeit low cost, alternative to living in Loveland or Fort Collins. Over the years I lived there, both Greeley & Evans went nowhere but downhill. Are there nice neighborhoods in Greeley? Sure, of course there are. I just think that the majority of the city is not a great place to live, especially considering the alternatives.

Windsor, Milliken/Johnstown, & Loveland/Fort Collins are all far better alternatives for living in or raising a family in than Greeley or Evans, that's all I'm trying to convey to the OP. Don't let the lower cost of living fool you into living there - its not worth it.
