I hate my landlord. Drunk comes over a few days before rent is due and hands me a sewer bill with $220 past due and tells me we are now responsible for sewer and trash. Her excuse is she is to broke to afford it anymore. In the years living here I have put more money into maintenance than they ever have. Booze is more important to them. They live next door to me and complain about my kids constantly.

I'd have to double check but unless you shouldn't be responsible for charges unless agreed to by you. Video her when she shows up drunk. Then when she tries to evict you, use the tape in court.

There are laws and rules that landlords are supposed to abide by. You need to check on them and see what exactly they are. I only know this because our landlord came over and gave us a carbon monoxide detector, they said it was because it was a law that they have to follow.

There is a great book out there called, "Colorado guide for landlords and tenants". I bought it years ago because I had a carppy landlord. He hated that book. I stuffed it in his face several times over the course of my time there. It also helped me get my deposit back. I really like the idea of what others have said, DON'T PAY THE BILL! It follows the property, not the tenant. Also, they make a great hidden camera that doubles as a pen for about $65. Great tool for getting this hag on tape.

Yep, one was in the news a while back. Sex Offender had no place to live, everywhere he could was within an illegal distance from a school or day or ? something. Denver kicked him out and he was living in a camper at Walmart in Lakewood, who kicked him to Denver etc. something like that... Many places that folks returning from jail could stay, cannot allow sex offenders. Leaves them on the street with no place to live while they try to get back to work etc.

Don't pay the bill and the water gets shut off. If you pay her for the water bill, she is going to spend the money on beer, not pay the bill and water gets shut off anyway.
I say you find another place asap.
