She commented on one of my pro gun pictures on my FB with basically telling me the calling the cops is just as good and there is no need for guns. She then told me about how her Godmother was killed by her crazy husband, as if that made some kind of argument. I'd been biting my tongue with this beeyatch for a while now, but I had enough.
"The notion that calling for help would help much of anything is frankly, retarded. It wouldn't have helped your godmother, would it? Domestic violence happens no matter if the people live in a weaponless house of not. It makes no differe...nce. look up the facts and statistics if you don't believe me. Calling for help just makes sure the cops show up in time to clean up the mess and start the investigation. People are wrong as hell about what the police are capable of. They aren't superheros that can magically teleport to your location and instantly overpower or overwhelm the bad guy doing whatever he is doing. And pulling out a phone and dialing 911 while you are being attacked is a hilariously rediculous notion to boot. A bullet travels much faster. If you decide that your family's protection is worthless enough to leave in the hands of strangers WHO HAVE NO LEGAL OBLIGATION TO PROTECT YOU (look that up too), that is fine, and you have every right to that. But don't go around telling other people about what their family's protection is worth. Guns are never good or bad any more than a hammer or a kitchen knife are good or bad. People use those items in murder quite regularly as well. The notion that a tool is good or bad is also downright crazy. And second, while we're at it, guns aren't around just for hunting or self defense. The framers of our constitution wrote the second amendment to give a balance of power between the people and the government, so that we would have the ability to overthrow a tyrannical government. Don't believe me? look up ANY quote that ANY of the founding fathers said about the 2nd amendment or gun rights in America. Thomas Jefferson had some of my favorites.
Frankly, though the choice is rightfully yours, I feel that protection is a parental OBLIGATION to the children. I take my charge to protect my family very seriously, and I know that I am better prepared to defend my family from harm than a freakin' cop is. I am trained, have superior weapons, and can respond immediately. How many times have you called 911? Have you ever got a busy signal? I have, many times. that sound like something you want to have happen as a child is being raped? Good freakin' day."
