View Full Version : Mandatory Recall and I'm PISSED!!

Well I spent $775 of my hard earned dollars on a PSL 54c. It was an exeptionally nice version with beutiful wood and just plainly one of the nicest brand new in box romanian ones i'd ever seen. Well I bought it, and now I got a very appologetic call from my dealer saying that i should bring it in so that it could be sent back.

They say that the ATF is picking up all the tabs and that I would get a replacement. They said that it was not manufactured to correct civilian specifications. The dealer told me I better do it cause the next call will be from the ATF and than they'd come pay me a visit...

At this point I'm kinda pissed and I call CIA's wondering wth the problem was. The idiots at the ATF let them sell the guns after the inspection and turns out that now about 6 months later they are going back on their word because of a stupid hole in the reciever... saying that makes it a machine gun. "once a machine gun always a machine gun"

Dont the idiots at the ATF even know that a PSL/FPK Drag was not meant to be a Full Auto weapon and probobly couldnt even handle it???

Well now even worse, since I'm bieng forced to do it by the end of the week I guess I will have to. But the freaking ETA on a replacement will be 6-12 months!!!! WTF!!! Isn't their anything I can do about this?

call a lawyer before doing anything.

save all documents
record all communications related to this "recall"

don't do anything not based upon proper documentation.

Ya i guess it's probobly a good idea to call a lawyer... but i cant afford to really fight the gov lol...

But good advice on keeping all documents, definatly will do that. Wouldnt send out the gun anyways unless i had a bazillion things signed saying i'd get another...

Delphi

well i guess the way ATF say it no matter what i do "one a machine gun always a machine gun"

As much as i disagree with their ban on machine guns... but hell this thing cant even fire full auto LOL it's got no sear....

PSL 54c is the rifle on the bottom otherwise known as the FPK/PSL Dragunov

Welding the hole won't do it for the ATF.

If they are being recalled then request your money back and get one through someone else instead of waiting.

ya i know :(

they are only promising a replacement(in who knows how long)... I'll try and push the cash refund... but dunno how far I'll get since they know I have to send it back either way.... I dont have much barganing room...

lol ya i wish, but than the atf comes to search my house and i'm in deep shit...

I tryed that while talking to the century international arms people... and basically what they said is if they do not get the gun back they do not care for what reason they will hand it off to the ATF and let them deal with it.

WHY would they have a "third" hole drilled anyway?

Makes no sense to me.

Delphi

Dunno all I know is that the ATF approved them for sale and now has gone back on their words :(

1 each for safe, semi, and full auto, either was before or was intented to be a full auto version I would assume.

Ya I called em today.... got my authorisation number they will pay for the shipping....

Basically after bitching at them for a while and asking for a manager I managed to get them to guarentee that I will have a replacement within 2 weeks they have recieved the firearm. They also guarenteed me that the rifle I would get in return would be of equal or greater quality. I asked em to send me an extra mag for all the pain they've given me... He said he would see what he can do...

I guess now all I can do is wait and see how this whole thing turns out.

I'll make sure to let you guys know.

All the ATF wants is the receiver. It is the part they don't like. It's like when Coles Distributing had all their Uzi kits recalled. Some folks were giving back the entire kit. Why? If it's not too late, can't you strip off the pristine furniture and parts?

buy a reciever flat or prebent 80% and just send them the damn reciever off that one.
That is all they want is the reciever. And that is the "Illegal Firearm" anyway
If it does have the 3rd hole they will just cut the damn thing in half anyway.

KEEP THE DAMN PARTS KIT, those are super rare to find in prestine condition.

I already sent the thing out, i was promised one in the same or better condition and they say i'll have it in less than 2 weeks now....

TBH if i wanted to mess with a parts kit i coulda gotten one for around $400. I'm not going to put all that time and effort into it. They also promised me a refund for whatever i payed including shipping and FFL transfers if i dont get it back within two weeks.... So either way i guess it'll turn out ok

Just curious. How did this work out for you?

Delphi

Turned out pretty well got my gun back. Took it out and it worked flawlessly.

They ended up sending me a free mag for the hassle. I had the gun back exactly 2 weeks after i sent it out.

I am impressed with Century International Arms service and will buy from them again.
