Yeppers, I am a newbie.

I am thinking of putting a laser on my AR. I prefer the green but since I know nothing about the green or red, please teach me and recommend which I should use.

Green is much easier to see during the day and goes farther. Also more expensive. A green laser is slightly more fragile than red because it actually uses an IR diode crystal (or a few) that halves the wavelength to get the green color. Extra stuff in there- more stuff to break.

I would take green if I were to mount one, but I'm going IR for NV purposes.

Budget??? Thats a joke.

I am a disabled vet on a fixed income so maybe $150 tops. I have been reading but the money some of these people spend scare me.

Maybe Barska?, aimpoint? They all have lasers in my price range but I am totally confused.

Any help will be appreciated

Oh, and green is more dangerous. They will mess your eyes up if you look at one. Not your average 'fuck with the cat' lasers.

Look for "CAA Weapon Mounted Light and Red Laser".. It should be in the $60-70s. It's great for the money.

Just remember, you can't blame the laser for misses at distances other than what it was sighted for.
A laser projects in a straight line, a bullet travel in a ballistic arc. Shoot at target closer than sighted distance and you will hit high, and the opposite is true if you shoot at a target further away than sighted distance and you will hit low.

Save up for a few months and buy a quality product.

Most pistol lasers in the price range you're talking about will get rattled apart within a few thousand rounds. They're not designed to take the kind of abuse that an AR will inflict on them. Look at Laser Devices, they make visible lasers designed to be rifle mounted.

Green lasers do not preform in the cold.

+1 on saving and buying quality. Don't buy chinese junk.

LDI- Laser Devices is a great company and makes quality products.
