I've been online searching for a little over 30 minutes now looking for some 5.45x39 1080 round cans... and no luck finding anything online, wtf [Mad]
All online shops are "Out of stock" [Bang]
... but the ones that have'em in store are charging over $200 + who knows how much more they'd want to rape for shipping for just one can... [Rant1]
I'm looking for a can or two [Tooth]

I'm glad I put a bunch away. I wonder if this is very recent or gradual? Being an election year and with massacres by people with 6000 rounds of ammo gun owners are understandably nervous.
Another thing to keep in mind is that we are in competition with the biggest purchaser of AK rifles in the world - the US government. We've been supplying armed forces and police in Iraq, Afghanistan and God knows where else with AK's.
5.45 has been consistently cheap for some time but 7.62x39 fluctuates. This might be starting for 5.45. In other word buy it if you get a deal.

This is one of calibers that if you bought a gun you should have bought a bunch of surplus when it was cheap. We already seen this once with 5.45.
Back in 01-03 they could not give away SAR-2's and 74 kits because there was no ammo and mags were in short supply. $189 would get you one.
I went SAR-3 in .223. Then the kits and mags came in. Ohio had 12 30 rounders in carriers for $35 a set. Then the cheap ammo came. I know many that bought or built many 74's and stocked up on ammo.
Anything that shoots surplus should never be taken lightly. The only round that has always been available and not gone through the roof on price is X54r. It is no longer $60 for 800 rds but it is not 50 cents per shot like .308 has become.
Not trying to bust your balls but if you own a 74 then stocking up on ammo would be priority #1. I have a carbine that shoots 7.62X25. I can load for it but I bought surplus for 6 cents a round and I bought a bunch.
If the link and price is still good that jreifsch80 posted I would run not walk and buy at least 4 cans. Just a thought.[Beer]

I've bought from Southern Ohio Gun before. Nice folks, answered the phone quickly, shipped quick. Main downside is that they won't quote shipping on their website (but will over the phone). You place an order online, they will invoice you with shipping included but it's not up front. At least they ship quickly and have lots in stock.

YEP. The only downside to the surplus is the steel core limits the stuff and places you can shoot it at.
I do not consider corrosive ammo to be an issue here in CO. [Beer]
