The price for this just sounds ridiculously low...does anyone know anything about this site and if it's legit? If so it looks like I might be getting me a Bushmaster [AR15]

Edit: The reason I ask about whether the site is legit or not is because the site didn't look terribly professional. Not the only thing to judge a site on but usually that's a pretty good indicator. I figured if anyone would know some on here would [Beer]

um..yes. Atlantic arms is a decent size company.

Carbon 15 has dropped in value eversince couple other companies start making plastic lowers.

Legit place to buy. Email/call to confirm availability, sometimes the inventory is out of stock so it still has the "old" price...

I've heard mixed things about the Carbon model...

Is that not the standard Bushmaster AR-15? What's the difference with the carbon model?

I just have seen Bushmasters going on here for $1000 and up used so I got a little "antsy in my pantsy" when I saw $700 with a red dot sight...

From Bushmasters Site:

The Bushmaster C15 M4 Type Carbines are a unique hybridization of traditional AR-15 type features with space-age Carbon 15 composite molded Receivers for light weight and rugged durability.

Lightweight Carbon 15 Composite Receivers – 40% stronger and 40% lighter than comparable aircraft aluminum receivers – unaffected by moisture – will not corrode – matte black throughout (no surface finish to wear off). Upper Receiver includes anodized aluminum Picatinny rail for unlimited sight, scope or optics mounting.

Although, I hear stories of these things splitting/cracking. FYI, that red dot is garbage. This package may be ideal for a cheap plinking setup but I wouldnt trust my life with it.

It's not ridiculously low. it's just a real price not one from armslist or [allah] forbid the FS forums.
There are actually fair priced guns out there if you know where to look. Seeing how you are not familiar with atlantic leads me to believe you are new to the firearms game.

You say that as if its a bad thing. Everyone's gotta start somewhere...I'm sure you were "new to the firearms game" at one point as well.

Would you care to elaborate on "knowing where to look"? Or is that privileged knowledge not acessible by us newcomers...

As a "10" over dealer, I sell that for $646. Just saying. They've got a pretty decent margin on it.

Haven't been able to get more in stock for awhile though (2 months)

Ah I see. I guess that's good marketing on Bushmasters part because a Bushmaster for that price sounded like a steal. Looks like I'll probably be building mine if this one is not of good quality...that way I can build it to my liking.

I own a plastic lower- a Plum Crazy (refered to by me as the Jelly Belly rifle) and there is nothing at all wrong with it. Its light and works. Not one single issue since I have it, not even the dreaded light strikes they have a reputation for.

You have a computer use it. Search engine is your friend, type in a few words and sort through it. Sometimes what you want pops up, other times it becomes a major PITA.
We didn't have computers back then. You heard a rumor, acquired telephone books for that area and rotary dialed away, no free minutes, texting, or cut & paste, all leg work, literally.

Also here's a link to another site i am on and a few other members. Some like it some don't. However they have an industry section and like here feedback forum. This will give you another world of info and nationwide feedback for vendors. Been on there a long time and like coar15 gave me plenty of knowledge. Check it out you'll like it. The GD section, might as well read DU, it's the same shit, different subjects to bitch about.

Technically the last bit is finger work...

See that's exactly what I was doing...searching for online gun sellers. Guess what I came across? Atlantic firearms. Their site didn't look professional, so I thought I'd use my resources available to me to see if there was some more info out there about them. I like (most) everyone on here and respect their opinions, so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone on here knew. It's not my fault that I have WAY better resources at my disposal than you did "back in the day" and you don't really have any need to be cranky about it.

And I especially don't like being treated like 2nd class to you because I don't happen to have the knowledge you have about firearms that you've acquired over a very long life (I assume). I've never understood why people treat others like garbage because they know more than the other person does about a particular subject. Maybe it's just me, but I tend to like to share my knowledge with others, not hoard it.

Good catch, I was sitting there wondering if maybe he had no arms and used his legs and toes to dial and flip the pages.....[ROFL1][ROFL2][ROFL3]

I bought one of the old Professional Ordnance Carbon 15s a long while back. It took a bit of fiddling and a LOT of cleaning but it runs like a top. Doesn't like the Thermold mags but is that so surprising?

If I want to hike with an AR, that's my baby. REALLY lightweight.

Oddly enough, or as they say, all kidding aside I spent most of the time tracking down rumors on antique motorcycle parts while i was recuperating from a bad accident. Which had me in 1 full length and 1 half length leg cast, left shoulder jacked up, multiple contusion and delusions.
So in a sense you could say i had no use of my legs and very limited use of hands. Go Figure 10mm calls it spot on.
Up side was the trapeze, we had over the bed:)

I've bought a few guns from Atlantic. They are legit and usually have pretty good prices on most guns.
