It's about high time for the CoAR-15 Shooters Club Shotgunners 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Fun Shoot! Last year (Tim) HunterCo and (Brian) JohnTRourke brought it upon themselves to bring the great addiction that is shotguns to you all. And now that I'm totaly addicted I just can't wait for the next one. So, let's see who is interested and get a feel for when and where to stage this event. I vote for Colorado Clays again for this year. They are open to the public and are generally the least expensive. I'm ready anytime we can agree on a date. I posted their prices and schedule below. Pricing:
Sporting Clays 100 targets $35.00
2nd Round/Same Day Sporting $30.00
Trap/Skeet 25 targets $7.00
10 round punch card for Trap/Skeet $55.00
Gun Rental and Golf Cart Rental $20.00

You know I will come if possible. Pick a date and throw it out there and we will see who can come.

Next month I can not do the 12th that is our club shoot and I can not do the 19th as I have to go to High Country 4x4 with Alans hummer for an event they are having. I forgot I also can not do the 5th as I will be at the CW machinegun shoot.

Memorial day weekend I will be at the Redriver MC rally like I do every year.

I guess that makes next month completely out for me. I could do a shoot in June. I say we just pick a few dates through out the summer and who ever can make it will show up.

How dose June 2nd sound to everybody? It's a Sat. and nothing else is scheduled that day as far as I know. We haven't heard from the Shotgun Guru ( Brian) yet, What do you say?

I might be able to make the 2nd. I have a lot of things to take care of around the squadron before going back over to the desert, but I think I can sneak away for a day...

dates are hit or miss
with the business building and holding down a real job, it's tough

Not that i've been shooting since November

Okay Fellas & Ladies let's shoot for June 2nd. I called down there to Co. Clays and asked a few questions and found out we can request lunch if we want. It's about $ 5.50 per person and we can have a choice of Hot Dogs, Chicken, Bar-B-Que Beast, Spaghetti, Burritos, or ????? you name it she'll cook it. It's up to us what we want. We just need to get a head count and let them know what to make 3-days in advance. They also have shotgun rentals for those who don't have a shotgun or want to try one of theirs. They have O/U, S/S, Automatics, Pumps whatever you want to try. Also they have Ladies & Youth models. So encourage your friends & family to come join us in what should be a great day at the Sporting Clay Range.

whats the typical sg for this event?

I was at a big 3-gun match in Phoenix a few weeks ago... After the match Mike Aos and I decided to shoot a round of SC while waiting for final scores to be posted. Mike shot his 1100 Competition Master and I shot my 21 inch Benelli M2. I got really lucky and had an 86 or something. The other four people with us shot a couple over and unders and a Beretta semi.

The guy pulling birds for us commented on how he had never seen someone shoot SC with a "Riot Gun" before.

Other than that time and the last time I shot with Larry, Brian and his wife in 2006, I have no experience with SC. All my shotgun trigger time is skeet or IPSC shotgun.

Ain't the gun, it's the shooter.
I've shot a 23 in trap, with my 870, 18.5in barrel, adjustable Knox cop stock (the one that moves), extended mag, cylinder barrel, etc

The really sad part is that's almost my high in trap.

Shoot what you want, it's all the shooter.
I usually shoot cylinder in one bore and improved cylinder in the other. (SxS)
If i had to pick one, I'd say improved cylinder. You aren't hitting the 60 yard out shots anyway. [poke]

I am in I can do the 2nd and Tom Freeman is banned from this shoot he kicked my arse last time. :P

Then he has to rub it in how he never shot sporting clays before. :P

All jokes aside I will be there it was a great time last year and I look forward to another. I can't wait for another CO ar15 sporting clay shoot even though I will probably get my arse kicked again.
