Anyone pull a CARFAX for me? I'd be happy to buy you some beer or whatever.

I want to know if the seller is feeding me a load of BS or not. I think it might have been a rental. (US rentals type place)

Unless the repair shop sent info to carfax or ins co, what they do not want you to see never appears.
It checks out mechanically, I want to know its ownership history...
Look for a little white arrow next to the gas pump icon on the car fuel gauge. Rental cars will most often times have this little white arrow that tells you which side the fuel cap is on. Most other non rentals will not have this arrow. See below...

Carfaux is worthless
I bought a salvage/wreck with a "spotless" carfax
if the dealer is all gung-ho on it, have him print it out for you

You said it better and to the point. Yes carfax is useless. great sales pitch, for the lot, bad for the buyer.
But, But the carfax was good.
What happened to dealers pitching the "Free" carfax report for every used car sold??
My cars have arrows, neither was a rental.
I have noticed that rental companies either have stickers or sharpie under the hood on the top of the radiator support. Oil info usually.

So does mine and it's not a rental either. But this is an indicator that it could have been a rental.

I'm aware CARFAX scams the dealers and their customers this way.
I only deal private party and want to know if i'm being fed a line about the original owner. One way to possibly discover that is through one of these services.

Have the seller pay for it.

Did that. Rivera Auto Service is my guy, Mike rocks. Best hour of labor investment there is for inspecting a used car. He finds all kinds of stuff.
A car-fax report only shows you what has been reported. That last part "reported" is the key. The car-fax crap is nothing really compared to what a good mechanic can tell you. [Beer]
Ok, I know some don’t believe in carfax but I need to pull one in the next couple of days. I can either order a single for $40 or if there’s someone else than needs one I’ll order the 5 for $50. If someone wants to split the cost $25 each I’ll give you the 4 others or if someone is willing to reimburse me the $10 difference I’ll pull 4 single reports for people.
If no one is interested that’s fine too and I’ll just pull the single report tomorrow night.
Thanks
I would rather get a FREE Car Fox than copy of Car Fax.
