BUIS reliability

Gearing up to buy some new Troy sights and am having a hard time trusting a folding sight for accuracy and reliability, particularly the front sight. I am planning on putting an Aimpoint on my LMT, but not for quite a while. Would I be better off putting on fixed sights for now or are Troy's folding sights going to stack up to they're fixed sights?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Personally, I feel "back up" sights are just that... back ups. That being said, the Troy sights are very sturdy and well made and the post and aperture are identical to anything you might find on a standard A2 sight. Seems many people use back up sights as primary sights on their AR rifles with no problems.

Shop around, I found one new around $60. Then look at a BUIS after you purchase an optic. As far as which BUIS, take this into consideration.

I have a few Troy BUIS and an arms 40L, never had any issues over the years. With that said I dont use them as primary sights, all rifles have optics. Every so often I will check them and they have never lost zero. Always rember you get what you pay for. IMHO the troy BUIS is a little bigger but a step above the ARMS 40L, but not by much.

As I have yet to select an optic for my ARs(one in 5.56, the other in 300blk), I purchased and use the Magpul MBUS sights front and rear. Also use the MBUS rear with an F marked front sight on my CMMG .22 upper. I have found them to be extremely accurate with repeatable results on each range visit.

Troys are good to go. I've run them hard and they don't budge.

Troy makes deadnuts solid sights. I'll happily run my Troy BUIS sets against any fixed sight set every day, any day. You do get what you pay for. ARMS, I'm not going to go into why the ARMS BUIS is a huge POS, but fair enough to say that they are not on par with the Troy's, LMT or Daniel Defense.

Nothing wrong with using fixed position removable sights either. Tons of folks do it and it works well. Generally done to have a constant co-witness with an optic or for those who don't use optics at all.

Tell you what though, if you buy the Troy set, and some how some way manage to figure out they aren't reliable, let me know.

Any flip up sight that doesn't lock in place when up is suspect as they can move while in use and loose zero . Troy sights are pretty much the top of the food chain .
