At least four people were reported shot Sunday morning at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., according to local media.
Witnesses told NBC station WTMJ (http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/165061026.html) of nearby Milwaukee that someone opened fire inside the temple.
Oak Creek police, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies have responded, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
Authorities closed roads and set up a staging area near the temple, WTMJ reported.
A witness told officers the shooter was a white male, with a heavy build, bald head and wearing a sleeveless T-shirt, Oak Creek Patch reported.

At least seven people, including a gunman shot by a police officer, have been killed in an attack on worshippers at a Sikh temple in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, on Sunday, police said.
The officer was wounded but "returned fire, and that shooter was put down," said Bradley Wentlandt, the police chief in nearby Greenfield, who briefed reporters. Investigators who picked through the building afterward found four bodies inside the temple and two other victims outside, plus the gunman, Wentlandt said.
Though early reports had suggested there may have been more than one attacker, he said officers had not identified any other gunmen.
The wounded officer, a 20-year veteran, was in surgery Sunday afternoon after being shot multiple times, but was expected to survive, Wentlandt said. He was sent to the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, south of Milwaukee, after a 911 call about 10:25 a.m. (11:25 a.m. ET).Carolyn Bellin, a spokeswoman for Milwaukee's Froedtert Hospital, said one of three men brought there from the incident was in surgery early Sunday morning, while another was in the surgical intensive care unit. The third was being evaluated in the emergency room. All three were in critical condition.
The temple has a congregation of 250 to 400, according to its website.
"I just want to say this temple was built a number of years ago and there have never been any problems with this temple," Oak Creek Alderman Dan Jakubczyk said. "They've been a plus to this city and to my district."

I used to have a few friends who were Sikhs and after looking into their culture discovered that a surprisingly high number of Sikhs CCW. I'm surprised no-one shot back.
I'm blaming Obama. Desperate times make people do stupid things. If he didn't have his foot on the throttle driving this country's economy into the ditch people wouldn't be so angry and upset all the time.

IIRC Wisconsin is one of those states with a LOT or restrictions on where you're allowed to carry and CCW in churches is verboten.
I can only think of a couple of groups that would target Sikhs for violence ... Muslims and idiots that think Sikhs are Muslims because they wear turbans.

I would argue that any Neo-Nazis or white supremacists that would attack a Sikh temple are covered in that second group of idiots.

I'd go one further, if we end up in a global war against Islam it will be the Sikhs that are among the strongest allies of the west against the Jihadists. The shooter was ex military and sounds like he was discharged underless than honorable conditions. His last unit was Psychological operations of all things. Most likely was a moron Skinhead, and was a member of some skinhead band End Apathy. Either way sounds like a complete douche bag all the way around. F the skin heads and other racist pieces of waste. Either way the media better not spin this scum as some conservative person. I wonder if the web site Stormfront is a buzz? Quite frankly one of my reasons to own firearms is to protect myself and my family from waste like this because we would be targeted because of heritage . Sikh's have been targets because they do look very foreign. Not cutting their hair, turbans and such. I've known a few and they were hardworking hardasses and real family men. As a previous poster mentioned, if we wanted allies against jihadis Sikh's would be at the top of the list.

Standing by for the hammer of "justice" to protect us all from these wackos. Why cant people see that they are so much better of protecting themselves than waiting for the police to show up? I understand the MI has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, but you would think that one of these times some one would stand up and drop these assholes stone cold before they kill a single innocent person. I'm bad. Ever since Columbine I limit myself to massacre stories and I tuned out yesterday when they were still yammering about a second gunman. Death by cop is a fair end to this. Hope his moron friends get the legal equivalent of a proctological exam as the investigation goes on.
