I'd say it's the same as most other left-wing activists...if your opinion isn't theirs, it isn't worth respecting. They know that most of the people they are harassing won't use the same tactics against them. I'm beginning to see a pattern here on the left (and yes, the "gay rights movement" is part of the left) and that is defining any form of disagreement with them as "Hate".

There's two things going on here, for the "street level" leftist, labeling any form of disagreement with them as "hate" allows them to attack conservatives and others that disagree with them without actually having to argue the merits of their position (or even acknowledge the merits of their opponents position). This makes it easier for them to feel good about themselves because they're "fighting the haters". And ultimately their ideology is driven by emotion and feelings because most of the time their arguments fall apart when they encounter anything other than the straw men they argue against.

Now where it gets a little frightening (and I expect accusations of tin-foil-hattery) is when you look at the top of the leftist food chain. You'll notice that there has been a push from the left to criminalize thought with "hate speech laws". Eventually I believe their plan is to outlaw conservatism and libertarianism by labeling any ideology that disagrees with the progressive left as "hate" and thus illegal to utter in public.

Either way, the left are consumed with NOT engaging in argument and debate and thus will hurl insults and label dissent as "hate" to avoid real, honest debate at all costs because when it comes down to it they know they'll lose.

If you really look at it, you'll see that Alinsky's tactics are nothing more than grade school level school-yard bullying.


I occasionally wonder if they have any respect for themselves, and therefore cannot respect anyone else either.

I suspect for most of them its just good old fashioned projection. Their position is based solely on emotion and thus anyone that disagrees with them they hate, so they assume that everyone else comes by their beliefs solely on emotion and hate so if you disagree with them it must mean that you hate them like they hate us.



Another way to look at it; if you had the opportunity would you argue and debate with Stalin or Hitler or Mao or any other mass murdering statist? No, you'd just shoot them and move on ... debating their beliefs is pointless because 1) you don't want to elevate their beliefs by even acknowledging them long enough to debate them and 2) there is no common ground to come together with them.

The left is employing this mindset so that like I said before, they don't have to argue the merits of our side vs their side, they just have to kill us and move on.

In general, gays are no more "hateful" than anyone else. However, in part because of the nature of activism in general and in part because of the echo chamber they come from, many of those in the leadership of advocacy for same sex marriage seem more interested in putting a thumb in the eye of their opponents than in actually attempting to convince people of the value of their cause.

And that's much of the reason for the backfire of their campaigns against them.
