OK Gang, here's the challenge: I need a suppressor for my 6.8 SPC AR. The difficult part about it is that I'd like for it to mount onto the .308 sized birdcage that I currently have mounted on the barrel. Direct thread is not bad, but I'd prefer it to be attached onto the birdcage.

From someone who has a 6.8 AR but no suppressors... Go with a .308 can and save yourself lots of trouble by getting a QD mount like YHM and Surefire make.

I think Knights Armament Corp. used to make a 5.56 can that could attach directly onto an A2 flashhider, but I'm not 100% on that. In addition I don't think Knights makes a 6.8 can. Pretty much everything they make is for military use and they on occasion shell stuff out to civies. I'm pretty sure that you are going to have to go with a proprietary FH/Adapter or a thread on suppressor.

The other issue is, I think, most of the major suppressor manufacturers have discontinued their lines of 6.8 specific suppressors. I know AAC discontinued their two 6.8 cans this year (although, you may be able to find a class 3 dealer that has one in stock). If this is correct, you will have to go with a .308/7.62 can. With regards to AAC, this isn't that big of an issue because the adapter they used for their 6.8 cans is the same as for their 7.62 cans.

ETA: It looks like Surefire is still making 6.8 cans (LINK (http://www.surefire.com/tactical-equipment/suppressors/rifle-carbine-suppressors.html))
