View Full Version : Yet another reason D.C. sucks!
Apparently now, even if your motives and intentions are good and just (in this case promoting free gun safety classes) you'll come under intense scrutiny in D.C. Seriously, we have strayed, America. The mayor of D.C. surely is a grade A, 100% libtard asshat! [Bang]
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) put up a billboard in July at 13th and L Streets, N.W., that says, “Hey D.C. — It’s time for your first shot,” with the organization’s website and a photo of a woman holding a red, shot-out bulls-eye. The advertisement is for the NSSF First Shots, which are free safety-and-training seminars.
Mayor Vincent Gray fired off an attack on the sign, calling it “offensive” and “irresponsible.” According to NBC4, the Democrat complained, “To promote the use of guns in the city I think really is just anti-safety.”
...
The classes from Aug. 24 to 28 will be taught at shooting ranges in Maryland and Virginia. There are no ranges inside the District because it’s illegal to carry a gun outside the home. [ed- This is reason #1 we all know D.C. sucks!]
...
Robberies with a gun are up an astounding 19 percent in Washington this year, and assaults with a gun are up 9 percent. Mr. Gray should take aim at criminals with guns instead of law-abiding citizens who want to defend themselves.

And some of you may recognize Ms Emily Miller as being that Washington Times columnist that wrote about how hard it is to get a gun (legally) in D.C... I have to say I do like her editorials and she's not hard on the eyes either...[Love1]

Was anyone here, who reading this board, seriously thinking of moving to DC? Really?
Bloomberg should be answering to his constituents in NYC. Gray to his in the District, and we (as citizens of Colorado) should be holding our elected representatives accountable for their positions on issues near and dear to us.
DC is not a gun friendly place (unless you are LEO, or thug). Even active duty military have major restrictions on possession and transportation of weapons within the District.
Be safe.

I was stationed just south of DC at Andrews AFB not once, but twice in my AF carrier. The military on this board may not have a choice. I made a lot of friends there and met a lot of like minded people there too, but they are grossly outnumbered. I had over a dozen job offers in Dc and the surrounding area when I retired. Some were six figure salaries with very sexy resume titles. I just couldn't bring myself to live on thhe coasts any more. It's pretty much like CO politically, get out of the big city and it's a rural ocean of republican theology. The problem is there are so many cities that they are grossly outnumbered in almost every east coastal state.

I grew up in the PRM (People's Republic of Maryland). After some time living in Jersey and working in NYC, we moved back to Waldorf, MD. Many people from Andrews lived in Chuck County [Tooth], which is looking more and more like PG county everyday.
You are right about the differences between rural and urban political thinking. You are also right about the megalopolis of BostaNewYawkaJerseyPhilaBaltimaWashington. No one should be surprised by the correlation between the population density, nanny state, high taxation and dominance of the Democratic Party in that part of the country.
Sadly, I will one day have to move back to the East Coast. This is a personal issue of domestic tranquility and the only real option open to me choosing which state we live in when we move back. The only two states I am seriously considering are Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The other option is putting the move off as long as possible. Wish me luck [Help]

PA isn't bad as long as you stay away from Phili and Pitts, Phili being the worst of the two. I wouldn't rule out VA either as long as you can stay away from the gaggle F around the DC/VA area.
