So, I have been bouncing around the idea of a kegerator in the garage. Just a simple frig. conversion. The only thing stopping me is how to maintain the frig. temp in the winter. The garage is not heated and can drop below freezing for extended periods.

Ideas? [Beer]

Lightbulb for reptiles in the kegorator hooked up to a thermostat that turns it on at a certian temp. I currently use a household thermostat that latchs a relay to do it in my fermentation chamber

If you want specs and diagrams let me know

And you have to have the kegorator set temp above the light bulb set temp so they are not fighting each other both bieng on at the same time

What thermostat are you using to run around those temps? I have a need for one for the kegerator as well as a livestock tank heater.

Kinda like putting a humidifier and a dehumidifier in the same room? [Coffee]

What type of thermostat are you using? The lowest house thermostats I've found only go down to maybe 40˚ and they are for electric baseboard heaters.

Honeywell household thermostat and It goes down to 35 degrees. I will post up specs and my build when I get home really easy to do.

It's already in a fridge, right?

Kids have one in an unheated garage up here never had a problem.
Fridge keeps on ticking.

A fridge will insulate from cold just as it does with heat. I wouldn't worry about it. We would have to have a really long cold spell or very cold weather to cause a problem.

This last winter probably wouldn't have been a problem but year before last it was -10˚ for a week or two.

It would be very interesting to see you drink 15.5 gallons (that's 124 pints) before the keg freezes at 0 degrees.... lol [Beer]

Major throat freeze and I'd have to install a urinal next to the kegerator. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Drinks/drinking-34.gif

As noted, it didn't get that cold this last year but mine has been in the garage and never had any issues. The only time anything froze was when the plastic/rubber hose to the tap got too close to the coil inside the kegerator. [Beer]

A little off topic, but what are you guys setting your pressure at? It seems like we have to set it real low to keep it from breaking out at the faucet.
