Anyone used it?
My dad saw a demo of it up in Sturgis yesterday and I hadn't heard of it.

Do you coat the whole gun with it? The video they have on their website the guy is coating almost the whole gun.

I got a couple guns from my grandpa that were in bad shape, I took them all apart put the pieces in the oven and then scrubbed them with this stuff, it cleaned them up great.

Most of the time though I just use it to clean like you normally would. Give it a good scrubbing and a good coat and it's good. It also makes them a lot easier to clean the next time.

I use both the liquid and the paste.

It smells good, it's non-toxic, it works great I have no complaints about it at all.

Heard a lot of good things about Frog Lube. It's not cheap, but those I've heard from that use it say it's worth it.

I'm sure other members with retail businesses sell it, but I know member LiveFireArmory1 (http://www.ar-15.co/forums/member.php?u=9078) sells it. Here's his site:

I have a parkerized 1911, so yeah, I do the entire gun. I took it completely apart, coated every surface, stuck it in a cardboard box lid, and sat it outside on a very hot day for about 4-5 hours. I used an infrared thermometer and the gun got to about 150 degrees.

The idea is that the froglube soaks into the pores in the metal of the gun, kind of like seasoning a cast iron frying pan. Or more appropriately, what cosmoline does to military guns in those hot warehouses for years.

The finish on the gun became more slick and smooth, almost like teflon.

Doh! I didn't even think of doing that. I'll have to check if Shades of Gray has a store front.

Thanks.

It's also sold on Amazon, or direct from their website for those not close to any of the stores.

Heh, as soon as I'm done my coffee, it's down to the basement to clean and come back up smelling like minty pepto.

My wife is blind, does that mean the braille edition will be more 'hands on"?

[ROFL1] You can only hope, jim.

On a side note, there were some posts in this thread that are now gone. So these probably won't last long. I guess we're supposed to keep it serious in GD.

Doesn't hurt that the wife doesn't want to evacuate as soon as I start cleaning.

So, how bout a progress report from the people that are using this stuff? Still great? Have you tried it lately since the temps have dropped? I'm on the fence about it but it seems to be similar to T/C Bore Butter (I'm guessing).

i was at the outdoor range yesterday, flawless. Cleaned the guns today and all the crud from the cheap wolf wiped off with ease. I compare the lube to lard when cold, its a thick paste. But works great IMO, i use to use breakfree

Lock and Load Armory has the Frog Lube in stock. They are off Washington just north of 58th. Just to the east of the Merchandise Mart where the Tanner show is.

I've been using it close to a year now, no issues at all, no weird wear or anything. Honestly, it's something that doesn't even occur to me that it's different than other stuff, other than it's minty fresh! But definitely has been keeping any buildup of crud from occurring on my firearms.

Gunsport in Boulder has Frog Lube....or at least they did a week ago, I suspect shelves are getting somewhat bare in most gun shops, regardless the product.

Shameless plug for my cousin who is officially a lubrication engineer.

Allright, I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered some. I tried it out on an old parkerized 1911 I have. I could not believe how well it removed carbon and powder fouling. That stuff is better than Hoppe's #9 and I love Hoppe's. After cleaning it, I wiped it down, then smeared some all over the gun and then hit it with the hair dryer. It went from paste to liquid pretty quick. After the gun cooled I removed the remaining paste. It did do a nice job in making the parkerizing look good as well. I also used it to clean up an old Blackhawk that was filthy. It didn't take long to get the cylinder and frame clean. Plus, I was able to do it all in the house.

Now, I am a little leery on how well it will lubricate. I prefer grease but I hope to test it out next weekend. I may just use it for cleaning and then use TW25 for lubrication of the slide and frame rails.

Frog Lube + petroleum based lubes do not mix according to the frog lube guys.

Yeah don't mix the two. If you go froglube, don't use anything else, they basically attack each other.

For parkerized finishes, you really want to soak the froglube into the metal. Do the hair dryer treatment 3-4 times. Shoot it like crazy so it gets nice and hot after putting a nice coat on the gun. Throw it in a toaster oven on low that you got from Salvation Army for a while. Sit it out in the hot sun during the summer. Stuff like that. After a couple treatments, you'll see the parkerized finish really get nice and smooth, and you'll know when you can cut back to just a wipe down with a towel on the frame and slide.

Before you go to shoot, just put a little bit of the paste version on the rails and other parts that slide against each other, just a light coat. After doing this a couple times, you can cut back. I don't do anything special now at all, and I don't see any additional wear on the rails. It works more like teflon at this point where you may not see it, but it works.

I picked up the paste at Lock & Load Armory. From what I have seen on You Tube you heat up the parts first with a hair dryer so they are hot to the touch then spread the paste on the part ...which is like spreading warn butter on to toast, it melts in the part right away ...finally wait for it to cool then wipe down. So far I cleaned 2 AR's and 2 pistols with isopropyl alcohol including breaking down the BCG's and coating each piece with Frog Lube separately. First impressions are the pistols rack VERY smooth the slide feels much smoother than before and the AR's charge like butter also. My one concern is the how thin the coating of Frog Lube is . We will see when I get out to shoot .

After I wipe down I use the liquid and spread a layer then reassemble. Seems to work as advertised, cleanup is what I really like with froglube

Anyone use this with nickel boron parts? Just curious if it just makes a mess of things, or if it works similarly?
