I'm trying to finish welding up a couple gates for the front porch, and of course, my Argon tank runs dry about 30 minutes from the end of the job. To make things even better, it happened at 5pm, and it's Saturday![Bang]
Anybody know of a secret welding gas supply that's open on Sunday?
(didn't think so)
Sorry don't know of any place but have you heard of that torch welder that runs on gas? unleaded, diesel, propane, etc? Was thinking that would be good to have in your case..... Good luck finding some![ROFL1]

Do you need pure argon for tig welding or 75/25 for mig welding?

You're right - it's actually 75/25 for a mig. I might break down and buy one off Craigslist so I can finish this weekend.
Best example of the forum issues....the reply is before the OP.

I saw a commercial and have been meaning to check it out but I forgot the name. It seems like a good back up in cases such as the op. If you or anyone knows the make please post it.

most migs machines can use flux core also(no gas required). Go by Home Depot or Lowes and pick up some flux core wire to finish your welding. It won't be as pretty. You will need to remove some slag like arc welding, but it will get the job done and be just as strong.

you want to run up here, you can take the one i have. Just replace it.
Hey Jeff, you got 220v at your house. I can drop off my mig machine tomorrow afternoon...it's got a 10lb spool of flux core wire on it. I couldn't stay and help but I can lend you the welder. LMK[Beer]

Yeah, that's probably the best idea. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it. I think I'll use flux core though.

I believe the technical term is shielded wire, flux core is solder. Not a dis just saying.:)

Maybe so, but if you go to the store to buy it... it is label as intershield-flux core:
And yes, there is flux-core solder also, but it will be too big to fit in a mig welder.

example 2:

One last note:
You will probably need a different tip size to run flux-core (intershield) wire. It usually runs a little larger than standard wire. Don't forget a tip when you pick up the wire or you will have to make a second trip.

I stand corrected.[Beer]
