Is this the one from like 10 years ago, or a new one?

I can not say what I thought hearing that without sounding callous and I do not intend it to come off that way. But post impact it actually sounded like liquid splashing back down on the deck. That must have been a hell of a mess and I would not wish witnessing that on anyone. Hell of a way to go.

Someone I know was performing on the bridge that day. He said it sounded like a bomb went off, and the hand rail was bent out something like two feet after impact.

It looks like he was trying to pass over the bridge and cut it short. The other guy doesn't pull his chute (or at least it doesn't open) until he appears to be below the level of the bridge.

Friend new the guy he did a few regular sky diving jumps with him. Said he was a real nice guy and great skydiver!

He was trying to fly over the bridge while another was flying under it. He miscalculated the distance to the bridge and caught part of it as he was crossing it. They never found all of him. Tragic accident. At least he went out doing something he loved rather than getting killed by a drunk driver or something stupid.

Not the note I wanted to start the day on. [Shy] Sounds like a lot of kids a show they weren't expecting.

The sound of a body hitting the ground is on that sticks with you. The same sound a landing pumpkin makes after being tossed off the tower at Elitch Gardens.

He knew the risks (which aren't any different than the ones we all take every day we get into a car...) and knew the rewards. I've never seen anyone regret enjoying life nor have I seen anyone on their death bed wishing they had spent more time on the couch watching TV.

I always thought a 3-minute free-fall in a wing suit after jumping from a very high cliff (NOT from an aircraft) would be just about the ultimate rush. That said, there is no way in hell you could ever get me into one. RIP dude....hard way to go out, but better than being squashed by a drunk in a head-on coming home from the movies I suppose.

That'll buff right out.

On another note, here's about the best six minutes of video I've seen on the topic:

Obviously way cool when done perfectly. But -0- room for error, and I have 27 free fall sport jumps behind me. 2 malfunctions.

I bet beer never tasted as good as it did after those 2 jumps! I remember the feeling once on the ground & alive after mine...probably while I still jump.

The original video in this post is just incredibly sad, first time I've ever seen that one. I've seen the edited version before, but not this one. Poor bastard.

Wow, that was awesome! Don't call 'em flying squirrels for nothing! But I salute those men and their gigantic, clanking iron balls for living life to the fullest! I used to skydive back in 1980-82, and wouldn't trade my piddly experiences for anything, but compared to what these guys are doing, I might as well have been knitting. I'd give anything to experience something like that, but I would surely die. That would require incredible amounts of jumping experience to even consider it. Plus I'd have to cut my age and weight in half.

That's me on the right, May 05, 1982. And AFAIK, that was BEFORE the damn gay community took over the rainbow scheme as their own! So don't give me any shit about it. My canopy matched my jumpsuit too. It was freakin' beautiful, until the homers ruined it.

Sure Ron! ...and YMCA wasn't playing in the 8 track before boarding the plane! It's OK...I've heard everyone experimented with something back then... [Beer]

BTW...great picture for '82. Little low there?

Nah man, we still had a couple thousand feet left.....it was Oklahoma, nothing to hit but dirt.
