What is everybody's plan for hunting this year?

Dove for me September 1, then archery in late September. Will mix in a bunch of smal game and upland game in as well. I can't wait!

Anybody who is starting hunting this year send me PM maybe we can go hunting for pheasants or something.

Doves as soon as I find a spot. Goats in Wyoming mid-September in conjunction with my elk scouting trip. Elk and mule deer in the Black Hills a few days either side of Halloween, probably grab a lion tag too. Then maybe some Phesants in Nebraska in December/January.

I am firmly in the grasp of the black hole-esque pull of the fall, the pursuit of game and the allure of being as far from the world as I can get for awhile. It is one of the most primal and irresistable feelings I experience....

If anyone has a "secret dove spot" they want to share, lemme know.... :-)

Lots of plans here. Opening day/weekend for each small game season. Plus assorted other days.

2x deer tags, one elk tag, and one pronghorn tag for big game.

Then late winter when everything else closes, time to drag in the yotes with their thickest winter furs.

Yeah, I have done that twice... and then they share and share and share and you can't even get into those spots any more unless you are there at 4am.

Sorry... but my current one will stay in the family.

On a side note, it should be great anywhere in eastern CO near water (aka rivers and streams) as it has been hot and dry and the bird count is through the roof!!

I'm on private land for dove. And can't invite anyone, sorry.

Last year had limit+1 collared 45 minutes in. I'd recommend the very north east corner of the state, that's where we go and get good Results. I'm talking 10 miles from Nebraska, on/near the platte.

Alaskan black or brown, depending on what the family wants. Should be a good 2 day trip in September.

That sounds about right; I'll be heading to the same Public Ground for the 3rd year, just got to have the "Dumbass Radar" on high-alert. [Whacko][Whacko]

Alaskan black or brown, depending on what the family wants. Should be a good 2 day trip in September. That's going to be one quick trip to AK., and back..
I head out in 10 days to set up for the first 10 days of archery elk. If I don't stick one then, I'll go back up for the last 10 days of season.
Got a late season doe antelope tag.
Poor coyotes will not be getting any hall passes all winter long, as usual.

I'll be up there for 10 days, that's where I'm from, so alot of family to see. Planning a float trip too, probably trout on the kenai. Might try and snag a moose or caribou too, depends on time. My cousin has a tag to be filled in unit 13. For me it will just be a camping trip...wink wink.[NoEvil]

I still need to get a hunters safety card here, I've been boycotting that, cause I think it's dumb. But it's on my list of things to do. I'm game for some yotes if you need a buddy. I would like to start hunting here.

I am thinking of getting back into hunting, have not had time for it since I moved here from TN about 9 or so years ago. Was thinking about elk but now thinking of antelope, since I have had no time for preparation. Race season is always so busy that even in TN I had very little time for scouting and stuck mostly to private farmland or wherever my Dad scouted out and could put me on a good site for deer.
It would be awesome to find a couple of guys to hunt with who have a better grasp of public and private lands than I do, but for now looks like just some backpack hunts here and maybe a deer trip back home in TN if the old man has anything scouted out.

hitting dove in nebraska
hitting speed goats on my uncles in nebraska (diff then ^)
hitting elk in unit 51, first season
hitting upland ditch parrots in South Dakota
Then deer late season underneath a game management tag for my uncle.

Las but not least, giving the bird to the politicians the first tuesday of November.

Think you will be happier in Tennessee. Hunting here is like going o an expedition. If you don't have the time to put into the hunt you may be sorry. Then try drawing a tag. Took me 8 years to get an goat tag. Finally got one. Drove up to Cheyenne last Friday and got the whole family goat tags (female) over the counter. 19-34 dollars each. 19=youth

Yep, there's some jackwagons out there who give us respectful landowners/sportsman a bad rap.

We go east and hunt the walk in access areas. I have two dogs so it helps a little in those areas. Sterling and Holyoke spots.

I had planned on hunting this year, got my Bow all tuned up, and my .300 Win mag all sighted in.....and then I realized I know nothing about buying a license in CO. So not I am trying to figure that all out.

Where I grew up all tags were pretty much over the counter, unless you wanted extra tags. And there were no zones, it was a statewide tag.

Lots of reading and learning to do on my part!

good luck this year...talked to my buddy in burlington who has 2000 acres...everything is an insurance loss as far as crops go and he hasn't seen hardly any birds at all. Not sure how good it will be this year.
