I still don't think it will be a good as the first. Not since they changed the invading army to be North Korea instead of China.

Apocalypse When? as it was called.
Looks pretty bad ass! Jeffry Dean Morgan is a badass, glad they got someone good to play the part that was originally by Powers Booth. [Beer]

North Korea is a legitimate fear of the U.S. Government.
Well, a reunified Korea under North Korean Regime is the legitimate fear.

I'm looking forward to it, although I am a little disappointed that it isn't the Chinese which is certainly more plausible than the North Koreans, who's missiles crash after a few feet and they don't have the ability to warm the huts along the DMZ without starting fires next to the brick.

PRK a legitimate threat: absolutely
From invasion: absolutely not
It would be more realistic for Canada to invade than the North Koreans. The oringinal movie had communist coalition invading the U.S. consisting of seveal Central/South American countries and the Soviet Union. A somewhat plausible scenario.
But PRK invading U.S. on there own--laughable.
The changing of the plot was for PC purposes and to market the film in Asia. So they killed the plot to try and make more money... This is why I think the movie isn't going to live up to its potential.

China has almost the entire world in a financial strangle hold. They have no need to invade.
PRK might not seem plausible, but they have that "something to prove" mentality that might push them in desperation to try it.
... and be vaporized somewhere in between Hawaii and Japan.

I do agree about China. They would actually lose to much money in commerse if they tried to invade the U.S.
The original plot was about China invading as a "foreclosure" on all the debt the U.S. owed them. I thought that was an interesting plotline.
Maybe somekind of Asian coalition might work like in Tomorrow, When the War Began, but not PRK by themselves. I guess we'll just have to wait until the movie comes out to see how they explain everythin...

Kinda. China would crash without us. It's a very symbiotic relationship we have with them. If China went away, we would suffer, but could probably survive, although it would be difficult. If we went away China would have some serious problems as well.
Anyway- with Dark Knight Rises already out now I just can't wait until Nov to see if this is any good. I hold out hope that it will be, just because the original is one of my favorite movies of all time.
ETA: The two main girls in it look hot as well! Good to see, considering Jennifer Grey and Lea Thompson were both total babes in 1984!

Which is why China is expanding into EVERY other nation, mainly Africa right now, in an attempt to alleviate those financial ties to us.
But I digress.
I think this movie will be sweet. But I'm not picky when it comes to movies either.

You forget the wacky 50's, This chinese power assisted those lowly NK'ers with arms and troops on their trek southward.
If it was economically good for them they'd be flooding NK with food then actual missiles that worked. Using out computer technology of course.

Minigun on a Mustang? Yeah, I'll be watching this. The Wolverines did stack the deck with Thor though.
