Anyone have any recommendations or experience with a reasonable/dependable mechanic in the Westminster-Broomfield area ?
I took my 2001 Ford Ranger-65,000 miles into Omeara Ford yesterday for maintenance/inspection. I was told the lower ball joints need replaced and are a safety concern at this point. Quote was for about $600.
I no longer have the financial luxury of just saying go ahead and fix it. As I have some upcoming surgery scheduled I need to get this done hopefully next week.
Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. [Beer]

If you could make it to the Springs I could do it for ya-you buy the parts and I'll put them in cheap ;)

But with 65,000 on the clock you might not realy need them-we had guys at the Ford dealer I worked at in NY that would say it would need them just to sell the work.

Thanks for the offer. Yeah that's always a concern-is the work really needed ?

I used to go to Lovejoy automotive, he always treated me well with good prices, but I'm disappointed he disappeared. Lately I've been going to Northglenn auto off of Irma & 104th, and I have been very happy with them, they have really tried to do the repairs I needed knowing I'm on a budget.

If the front end isn't banging over bumps and the tires aren't wearing uneavenly then chances are there ok.

Take it to Factory Trained Auto. Chris the owner is a great guy and will always give you and HONEST assessment of your vehicle, you won't be paying for something that isn't required. Here is a link to his site:

I'm not affiliated with these guys, but Chris is a friend of mine. We used to race motorcycle together.

I have used 5th Gear Automotive a number of times. They were honest and fair priced each time. They even fixed another mechanic's mistake once.
