So I was primarily looking at SE aurora, but I found something that might work. The house is off Kentucky and Buckley to the SE past what looks to be baseball fields. Is anyone familiar with this area? Is it quiet? Good/bad? Crime? Etc...
Subdivision is Rattlesnake ridge.

There are some nice houses in that area but it is not what I would consider a nice area. Most areas right next to a military base are not quiet.
I would avoid A-town period. I use to live near Southlands, Then I became very good friends with a cop who worked that district. I moved.
East of 470 on Smoky Hll is probably the only place I would even consider living in Aurora.

I work at DIA, and don't want to drive more than 30min to work everyday. Most of my friends also live in the SE part. Denver county is not happening. Not much for options in this damn town.

Zillow.com is good for some information. Maybe you can find something out of the city limits, less zone problems, you can have 8 foot fences, big dogs etc.

Have you ever been to Brighton? Nice houses and sub divisions up here.
There are some nice homes and neighborhoods in Aurora, but "Aurora" has some stigma attached to it that seems to keep property values from ever increasing. You can probably get more house for less money there, just don't expect to have any equity increase over time.
Have you considered Brighton right off of I-76? I lived out there for a few months and it was really nice. Close to DIA and very little traffic.
You don't want to live over there trigger.. I know people who did.

FWIW, I have a house for sale in Westminster... 104th and Wads Parkway, roughly. I drive to/from DIA every other week for work travel, and unless traffic is sucking big time, takes me about 45 minutes.
Not sure if that's too far for you, but if you want to talk, drop me a PM.

Find a good Realtor; it's their business to know the neighborhoods.

Thanks fro the input guys.
Let me clarify... I am looking in Aurora, I know there are other places, but I'm looking in Aurora. Looking for info on this area or areas to stay away from in Aurora from previous experience.
Brighton is too far for me. I work at DIA full time and also work at Aparaphoe and I25 part time. But also shoot at golden gun club, would like to be closer to that as well.

And under $250k, but ideally want to pay what the market was 2 years ago. Haha. I want it all.
In that case TriggerHappy, I would look at Hampton & 470, Quincy & 470, or Smoky Hill & 470. I think east of 470 on Smoky Hill is the best part of Aurora.

Preciate it. If I could afford 40acres and a very simple ranch with a nice oversized garage, that is what I would get. Just trying to keep my payment down. Worst case is, I hate it and sell in 2-3 years. It's just moving.

There are three houses on my street alone in foreclosure, And another four in my neighborhood, Tower & Iliff area. PM me if you want more details.
You could probably get a super deal on one of these, the yards are brown and trees wilted but none are trashed out and are no more than 7 year old homes.
I need some more firearms friendly neighbors........[Tooth]
Sure man. I sold my house just to the east of 470 off of Smoky Hill for $227,000 three years ago. So you should be able to find something. It was a three bedroom 1500 square feet (not including the basement) house.
The area is not bad. Im off of tower and hampden. There is crime everywhere you go.

I am off Tower/Mississippi near the airfield and its ok. Not had any issues with crime or even bad neighbors really. For the most part its a really boring, quiet neighborhood.

I think there's some houses for sale in my neighborhood. Look just south of Smoky Hill between Buckley and Tower. South of Smoky Hill is considered Centennial in most places if that helps your search.

If you are working at DIA, and looking for an inexpensive house, then take a look at the neighborhood just NE of Tower and Colfax. There is a variety of housing prices in that corner. Its always been quiet for me. Walmart 1/2mile away is convenient.
Don't look at houses north of I70 from there, although some of the Green Valley Ranch area looks nice, there is a lot of human debris in the area. And don't go west along Colfax at all.
Do note that the school situation is not good, if you have kids then I'd probably not recommend it to you.
I was recently looking for a larger place than the one we have there, and ended up just south of the air base. Neighborhood looked quiet enough for me. I was looking in Brighton and would have happily bought there, but houses are going for more than 10% more per sq ft than Aurora in the same condition. And to be honest, Brighton is pleasant but has some icky neighborhoods too. The only thing that concerned me about Brighton was that the selection of restaurants in town itself was not good. Had to go to Thornton for variety.

I live in Saddle Rock Ridge. It is a nice, quiet, family neighborhood. Close to 470, shopping, good places to eat. Doesn't seem to have much crime, though it borders on some areas that do. Good people in my neighborhood. There are some houses for sale here. Come take a look.

I've been in Aurora for 17 years and have no idea what you guys are talking about. And not the wealthy part of Aurora.
My neighborhood is JUST fine.
But almost anything North of Colfax might as well be Denver to me... I refuse to recognize it as Aurora.

I agree... i grew up on Colfax and Peoria until I was 10... Moved south near Peoria and Jewell and lived there until i graduated from HS. Now I am a little more south, but not just Aurora... there has never been a place in CO where i've been worried about my safety (before and after carrying). Go to East LA

We use to shoot out there. Last i remember was buckley & quincey was the end of paved road. Went down there 5 months ago to look at a dog. The spouse and i were???where the hell did all these houses come from. Of course it was 20 years since we had been down that area.
That whole area was used a shooting range.

It's been a long day. Kentucky and Buckley.
I'm curious why exactly Southlands is supposed to be such a scary area. Mystified is probably a better term, of course.

What about Murphy Creek? Further out East, but that seems to be your daily commute. Newer houses, in your range.

Plus one, go further south and possibly further east.

good lord people, enough with the aurora bashing. aside from a few select areas it is not that bad. if i had kids sure i would make sure they went to the best school in aurora but there are gorgeous neighborhoods and homes in perfectly quiet and safe areas all around aurora. people make it sound like the south side of chicago, which still has very nice areas.
