.... I'm running around in circles. I did accomplish my first task; that deciding NOT to build an AR10 like I originally thought. I've decided to go with a 6.8.

But as I look at the myriad of stuff out there I'm just getting nowhere. I look at one manufacturers upper assembly and like it, than find that I like the same manufacturers lower, so what's the point in building something if all your going to do is put an upper and a lower together. Might as well just buy the manufacturer's complete rifle.

I find myself going through this logic (?) with every manufacturer I look at.

So... what's the point, given with my first build I don't think I want to mess with puting EVERYTHING together myself (seems overwhelming)? Are there really manufacturers that really excell with one component, but one would want to look elsewhere for other components? Does this rant even make sense?

Oh... and I really can't get going on this in eanest until I sell my PTR91 to fund it. Anyone care for a PTR91 (yes... I will post it in the Trading Post)?

Search the web for 6.8 discussion forums. Read, search the FAQ's and read some more. Perhaps posting this in the Other Caliber Uppers forum would give you an idea which way to go.

The point of the build is to help you understand the weapon system, gain some enjoyment out of building it and get exactly what you want. If there is a built rifle out there that nulifies these for you, then just buy it.

You can always go to the LGS and buy a complete lower and then build an upper, or vice versa.
