View Full Version : AK gurus, please help!
Hey guys,
I'm buying a couple of those receivers listed in for sale section. From what I understood these are polish made 7.62x39mm receivers.
My question is - where I can get the parts kit to "fit" those receivers and what are the prices for ak prts kits now days?
Thank you!

Brycom's? grab em while you can, I have a few. Here's some info & links for kits. Also contact Tristan a member here he has AK kits.
It will work with any AK47 1mm stamped parts kit

We would have to wait for our inhouse pricewatcher,Rachel Ray,Jr should know all the up to minute listings on vendors that have them in stock [Coffee]
The upper rails have to be trimmed down and all the holes have to be located and drilled out.Between a few of us we plan on getting the drillout jig,and I allready have a set of top rail scribe jigs.
I feel another build party in the works.[Tooth]

So do you stamp your serial number that comes with the kit onto the receiver? Pardon my ignorance.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. That could imply you are , may, could, would, might be manufacturing them for resale. This is merely a parts kit similar to say an 80% AR lower that you were able to form in to a firearm. This is not something you would sell for profit, or constantly crank out, to again sell.

For the m64 you would need reciever repair plates. So the answer would be no.
The m64 is a milled reciever.Allthough I've seen guys grind /mill down the front stub to use it like a regular trunnion and use a reciever or a flat.
You could scrounge up a Yugo front trunnion and press and pin your barrel into that, but you would still need a different reciever. The yugo's are 1.4mm as opossed to 1mm of the standard recievers.Chineese is also 1.5

When you're looking at kits anythings milled, Yugo or RPK probably won't work with those receivers. Underfolders would require a lot of work on the back of the receiver.
Apex is getting low on kits. I see there are still some at: http://whatacountry.com/parts-kits.aspx

Also an m64 has a threaded barrel like a type 1-3 ak47 so it would require turning the threads down for use in a stamped trunnion, apex does have cut up m64 receivers so a compliant reweld can be done using receiver sections as repair plates I know I'm a little late to the party eyegore had to fill in for me ;)
Subscribed as I picked one up... Can't wait to do this build
One in hand as well I have no friken clue what i need to be looking for parts kit wise except not milled and i probably can not do the underfolder
Underfolder is what I want..
here is the blue prints for the AK receiver. This could be used to locate holes in the polish receivers. You should verify locations before drilling

Is that Dr Strangeloves print? ;) We used it when flats were just made from what you had laying around before regular pre mades. [Coffee]
I have a disk with all the pertinent info if anybodys in the springs and wants a copy lemme know...
I also made some templates from some of the flats as well-their just coppied onto thicker paper but I cut the holes out and spray over them like a stencil...

I have bobs rosetta stone of ak building (binder with lots of print offs) he has templates as I also have a bunch of strange love prints too. I'm thinking of getting a drilling jig for the polish blanks, would anyone be interested in using it as well?
