If you like AK pistols, yes.

I don't even have an AK.. does that mean I never have a bad day?

I was just curious after the response to it. I know nothing of AK. [Coffee]

I thought Zastava was chroming their barrels now??

Anyways I'm willing to bet that they are using a underfolding trunnion and all that is needed to SBR it is to drill the reciever.

These are even cheaper than the actual unassembled parts kits that require alot of work.

Come on Ice Cube no one ever has a Bad Day. If you had an AK, that would improve!

These can't be underfolded. Look at where the serial number is in the back. Guy on the AK forum already got a rejection letter from ATF. Side folder maybe.

Can you put a fixed stock?

Need to replace the rear trunnion. Buy an ace side folding stock adapter, drill & tap 2 10-32 holes and install. Don't forget to have the Form 1 approval stamp in your possession prior to installing any butt stock.

Cool thanks. I know about the stamp but since it is a public fourm thanks for attaching that info

Couldn't you just move the serial # to a different location?

Sounds about as common sense to me, even for the ATF.

It's against ATF rules to move serial numbers. Look it up on the AK forum if my pc here didn't block it I would. ATF is super cereal about it.

Well screw it then. I'll just buy one, demill the reciever, and use the parts to build up a SBR on another receiver. Still be cheaper and easier than buying one of the kits out there.

I think if you do that you have to send in the old sn showing it was demilled.

Why? It'd be no different than destroying any other firearm. There is no requirement that I know of that says you must send in old receiver or declare any firearm destroyed.

If its a NFA item then you could be right, but these pistols are not NFA......Yet.....[Tooth]

As I said in another thread the only barrels zastava chromed are their .223's so m85's m90/95's and m21's I am excited for the promised m85 pistols that are supposedly coming in in September (my birthday is september too lol)

Just ordered one. I'm stoked. Hey I know M92's had a underfold stock. Were there any yugo side folders? Can't find one in my books but was just wondering.

As far as I know they never made side folders, maybe for a proyotype, but never any issued weapon.
The only side folders I saw while I was over there was what was procured from other countries-AMD's,Rommys,East German.

My guess is that it would take a lot for them to start up tooling for sidefolders when it's just cheaper to get from someone else.

100% correct. They didn't (and still don't) have the money to retool their machines and buy stock-steel prices went up drastically in Europe when the wall came down. Then Russia flooded the market with stamps and other metals, like copper, furthering the up price on steel.
Then China started buying up all the steel around the world-especially Brazilian.
Sorry. Had a Cliff Clavin moment there....

there are many countries that use the zastava m21 they are constantly retooling for updated models the problem isn't money to retool it's that no alot of countries buy arms from the little guys now days. though the m21 supposedly is very popular among private security contractors.

edit: yugoslavia and the former republics don't "buy steel" and probably never will, they are very rich in most natural resources especially iron, chromium and nickel among many other things.

they also have hot chicks hahahaha

Processing the steel is the problem and it is still cheaper to import it, from what I understand.
Also, I was talking about general issued aks....and the retooling they do is very minor..
Yes, Hot Chicks. Love Hot Chicks..Yup. Wish I could go to that hospital...

p.s.-I don't know Justin-but have been doing this for probably longer than he has been alive, lol. Yes, I'm old.

I see what you meant now tristan, I wonder if Serbia still does process a lot of their own steel since being landlocked croatia and romania like to rape them with taxes for using their ports lol. I know the Russians have heavily supported Serbia ever since the Balkan wars. We should get together sometime when we have a chance.

Bob the only reason I know about the Serb side folders is for the last year I've been intensely researching the m21 with hopes of making a loose clone with m85 parts and modified galil parts. ;)

Tristan

It's mainly a political thing, as you eluded to...they tax the hell out of the miners, there's terrible tariffs and a bunch of greedy politicians that try to make money off of the minerals in that country. And they have some vast resources.
Same with Afghanistan. They have an incredible batholith of rare gemstones, but the miners don't get shit and the politicians get an average of 2000% on the gemstones shipped out.

That just might work. I'm not big on 5.56 Aks, but it would be an interesting adventure.
If I remember correctly, aren't there three different variations?

jreifsch80

I too am not a huge fan of .223 aks lol but then again I have 2 already a romy "wieger" clone and a century galil lol

My M92 kit came with a front trunnion made for a flat side receiver and I think it's 100% Yugo.

That's my Mom in that Video!

M92's are slab side I have a 2006 m92 trunnion myself m85's are bulged

My 7.62x54 and 8x57 ak's make up for my .223's ;) and I have to admit I like my galil

zteknik
09-06-2012, 21:57
Now are the M92's 1mm or 1.5mm ??
I remember seeing adapter plates for the Yugo rear underfolder trunnions so you can use them in regular 1mm recievers.

jreifsch80
09-07-2012, 09:41
M92 uses a 1mm receiver that's why I was going to use my m92 trunnion and a polish uf rear end to make a poor man's m70 slab side
