View Full Version : Group Buy for our new Plasma Cut Targets!! CLOSED!
Al righty we are now carrying a full line of plasma cut AR500 targets. Plasma cutting is a cheaper alternative to water jet cutting, that still yields a quality product!
Water jet cutting is the preferred method for cutting hardened steel as there is no heat input into the material while cutting. This results in the utmost quality and durability. Plasma cutting does create HAZ (heat affected zones) to an extent. Basically the material is heated up and the hardness of the material is affected to a certain degree. The benefit plasma has over water jet is cost. That is why it is commonly used for "economy" lines of targets. Is it as good as water jet cut targets, no but does the cost benefit out weigh the drawbacks in certain applications, we think so.
On plasma cut targets the edges can be a little weaker and wear quicker than water jet cut edges. The smaller the target, the larger the effect. So on smaller targets like a 6" circle HAZ will be more noticeable than say a 12" target.
Competition Dynamics recently used a large number of our plasma cut targets at the Snipershide cup, as well as our water jet targets. There were 0 failures of any kind.
So in celebration of our new target line, we would like to run a group buy for the forum here!! We would like to limit it to a couple different targets sizes/shapes to make things a little smoother for us.

How does the HAZ of the plasma cut affect the hardening of the AR500 I'm assuming you're cutting these out of? Have you made any edge shots on the plasma cut plates? I'd be curious to see how they hold up when compared to a water jet target, which would have no HAZ.

Think I shoot a few of your targets the other day. I would order a 12" circle and a diamond
I'd be in for a 12in circle or two
Yeah! CIRCLES! Finally. Count me in.

Price is a deciding factor. Give a quanity requirement and what the price each for said quanity..... 12" round or rectangle......[Tooth]
How about some more info here Banks
Pricing and volume requirements will be updated later today.
I have PM'd you a time or 2 and have not got around to ordering anything yet. I would definitely be in for a 12" circle or 2 (depending on price)

The AR500 i have had for over a decade like timex, keeps on ticking. We torch cut them, the areas around the cuts show minimal wear compared to the unaffected areas.
I shoot handgun & .223 - 7.62x39 w/out issue.
We shot one of my 12x's with a 50 @ 100 yds and that sucker went flying back an easy 20-30 yards.
Banks also offers hangers that hold up well to missed rounds, for your sub-moa friends:)

Ha. You said hangers. I thought you meant the targets would "hold up well to missed rounds".
I though maybe you had seen me shoot. [Coffee]

Cool another PU/SU thread in the making. This time it should be side of barn, can you miss it from here?
These targets will stand up to a ton a pistol abuse!
We do have hangers that will absorb a bunch of stray rounds! So if your "minute of barn" accurate we have hangers that will work great for you!!
Pm me with what you want!
3/8" Thick for all targets in this group buy. I will update the main page.
This is the official order thread for our Plasma Cut Targets group buy. We are accepting all sizes of targets in the group buy. We can do custom shapes depending on what they are, so if you want something, ask I will see what we can do.
I will update this list as I receive orders, so we know where we are in the total targets and pricing.
We will let this go 2-3 weeks before we cut it off and start cutting the targets. Money will be required once the group buy is closed to secure your targets.

I'll take a full size IPSC target.

Where can we find group pricing
Where can we find group pricing
It all depends on how many orders Austin gets. The more targets the cheaper...

Thanks... I had my late-night blinders on!
Sign me up for two 12" circles please!
I'm also interested in shipping options... I know they are heavy as sh*t, but it would still cost more for me to drive up to Greeley! Maybe put them in the USPS fixed rate boxes? I think anything you can fit in them ships for the same price.
Almost to the first price break! List updated.
23 Targets so far....
I'm in for 2x6" circles, and 1x12" circles.
Any idea on shipping costs?

To move us 1 step closer to the goal, I'll add a 12" circle to my request.
Edit: Will we be able to pick up locally?
Local pickup will work great!
I can fit up to 12" targets in a USPS flat rate box for about $16 with delivery confirmation.

He's down the road from us about 20 min east. Done business with him on pick ups before.
1 ipsc
1 6" round
2 hangers
I'm in for 2-8" circles.
Let me know on pickup or shipping.
Thanks
List updated.
We have reached the first pricing break!!
I can arrange delivery of a few at a time (using a station wagon) to the lakewood area if that'll help. A buck or two for gas would help but not necessary.
Thanks for the offer Wulf! I will keep it in mind.
GROUP BUY ENDS SUNDAY September 30 at 11:59 PM.
I will start emailing those of you who have placed an order and get the hole information. (1 or 2 holes for mounting)
I would like to add 6x6" Circles to my order.

Targets are being cut and will start to go out this week. We have most payments in hand. I apologize to whoever it was that called our shop number and wanted to drop payment by. I apologize we did not get your call returned. We were having some phone issues and lost your info. I think we have figured out now...fingers crossed
Targets are being cut and should all be done by early next week. Sorry for the delay, the material took a little longer to come in than expected.
Targets are all now ready! Everyone should have a PM. Those of you who paid for shipping, your targets went out in the mail yesterday via USPS. Send me a PM if you didn't receive mine.
If you happen to have any extras let me know
