View Full Version : First Build - Spikes Tactical Lower, Spikes Enhanced LPK, Magpul MOE Grip
Hey All,
Finally got the parts in so I sat down last night and slapped her together....
Spikes Spider Forged Standard Lower (Fire/Safe), Spikes Enhanced LPK and KNS Precision Gen 2 Mod 2 Non-Rotating Trigger and Hammer pins
Awaiting my Magpul CTR Stock, buffer tube, Spikes St-t2 heavy buffer, buffer spring, etc to arrive...
Went together quickly and easily and all function tests went well....no issues so far!
My plan is to keep this a basic carbine with iron sights - Looking at the Spikes 16" M4 LE with Magpul MOE hand guard 5.56 upper.....I'll get creative when I build my Grendel.... [Muaha]
Looks like its coming along nicely
Nice choice in parts and good looking lower so far.
Thanks - Greatly appreciate it guys.
Should look into some kns antirotate hammer and trigger pins. That is the only issue I had on my PSA lower these pins started to walk after first 100 rds

DONE Deal :)
General question but I see more and more people using those anti rotating pins, for a general non full auto rifle is it necessary?

Short answer.... no.
But it doesn't really hurt anything either.
Seems to make my triggers feel a bit "smoother" as well. Of course that could be the psychological effect of spending $30 on them.

I like the look of them, you should have seen what i was googling when i first saw them... trigger bones, dog bones, etc... ROFL

Your perception of feel is spot on. (manipulating the Cheetos has paid off[Tooth])
I noticed a difference on my 20" item and have noticed a superior fit and finish on them. Sometimes they take a touch of patience to line everything up. I haven't laid a mic on some but my guess would be to the fat side of the tolerance range, not a bad thing.
The big detractor is the FCG is no longer "field serviceable", you now need a pair of small allen wrenches.
I put the allen wrenchs up inside my ergo grip handle. Why won't these work with the gissel (sp) triggers?

And when the plug gets dislodged on a piece of kit where are ya?
I think the odds of losing wrenches are a bit higher then the odds of losing FCG pins.

Yeah like when the SHTF... you don't think alot of drop in auto sears won't be handmade and installed? I'll go with the full auto capable BCG and the anti roll pins. If the POS .gov goes tits up, I want to be ready! Feel free to flame me for my well grounded fears...Hurricane Katrina was a good example.
Downside on the pins is to keep them well oiled as they will wear oval holes in the lower.

I don't just have them in there. I have several small survival goods wrapped up a pushed in there. The are a bitch to get out with just your fingers so I don't see em going anywhere but who knows giving the right circumstances

Ha. If I tried to service mine in the field I'd probably lose a small part or two anyways. [Coffee]
