View Full Version : Car keys with transponder aka "chipped keys"?
Can anyone here program those keys? I have 2010 Nissan Frontier and need to program two new keys for it. I already have the keys they just need to be programmed.
There're a couple of cars that can be programmed at home, but Nissan is not one of them..
I called dealership and they want my kidney to program the damn keys.
So I was wondering if someone here can do it or knows so eone who can.
Thank you guys in advance! [Beer]

If no one on here does it, I will tell you to avoid the dealership all together. They wanted over $100 for a new key for my 08 WRX. I got a blank on ebay for $20 paid $10 to have it cut by one local locksmith (its not laser cut but still odd) and another $20 or so to have another local locksmith back down south program it for me. It was just some fancy obd computer and took him all of 5 mins to do, the first locksmith didn't have one but knew exactly who to go to.

I had ACE Hardware do make a key for me. It was around $50. They may be able to program your keys for you.

Didn't know they can program the keys. Thanks!
Your best bet is to call a locksmith that deals with cars a lot, they will probably be able to help you out for a lot less than a dealer. Also, if your salesman isn't a dick (the one who sold your vehicle to you), he might be able to do it for free. [Beer]

If you have no luck with the dealership/salesman, i would reccomend a locksmith. Like others have said a locksmith will be much cheaper.

With my Jeep, if you have both keys that came with it, you can program the keys in the car. Check this out for your car. I only have one of the keys for my Jeep so I can't do this.

For $75.
I called ACE Hardware and they said they can't program it, not for my track anyway.
Ended up calling an All American Mobile Locksmith and the guy came to me and programmed it for $90 for two keys.
Thanks for input guys!
