...but I'm letting you bring the rifle and pistol of your choice.

What's it going to be and why?

M9 and GUU-5.

Mags and ammo for both are everywhere.

GUU-5 over the M4 as its full auto and not a 3 round burst.

There is no majik caliber and I dont think bigger is better. I would rather put a few 9mm or 223 holes in someone in one second rather than one 45 or 308 hole in one second.

Well, if they wanna let me have an F/A-18 they wouldn't have to go to the trouble of drafting me, I‘ll sign up right now:

They’d just have to overlook my eyes. I’d even be willing to get lasik if they‘d accept it, but unfortunately I don‘t think that‘ll happen. :(

Seriously though, if I can have the rifle and pistol of my choice, the rifle would be a short-barreled AR15:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/Spenserjb1216/mk18.jpg
However, I’d also bring along an SPR-type upper receiver (they said 1 rifle, they never mentioned anything about rifle components ;) ).
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/Spenserjb1216/SPRupper.jpg
I’d also get suppressors for both. With the two uppers, I have a very handy close-in weapon with the shorty and an accurate reach-out-and-touch-someone-500-yards away weapon with the SPR.

For my pistol, I’d like one of the forthcoming FN FNP45s:

14 rounds of 45 ACP. Nuff said.

Drafted, huh? I guess a AR or M16 with a good, tough scope for sniping out to 400m. The gun and ammo are light and that's so important when on foot with miles to go. Can I get a piston upper so I don't have to clean it so much?

I'd want a QD can for it to trap the muzzle blast and flash. I had a chance to observe the new 2007 SRT 5.56 can with the quick detach that mounts on the A2 FH. It's the quietest I've ever heard and shames my lowly Halo. It's also fairly light. Supersonic flight noise disorients the enemy and not giving away your position is a tactical advantage. I really don't understand why these aren't standard issue to our grunts.

For a "last ditch" handgun, I'd want something effective against body armor. Maybe a FiveSeven with the right ammo or a CZ-52 with the steel core rounds. Is the FiveSeven proven in any military application? I only mention it because it has much higher capacity.

Rifle:
SVD Dragunov with Karl Zeiss 3-9x50mm + a harris swivel bipod installed http://www.harrisbipods.com/ (pretty much the setup i've got right now just take away the Karl Zeiss and replace it with a luepold ;) )

Pistol:
Glock 19 with a lazermax and a surefire X200 Weapon Light (also pretty much the setup i have right now)

i guess it would depend on where we were going?

urban i would go with my SBR AR15 and ditch the pistol for a 12ga, if i had to stay with a pistol i would take my HK USP 40.

in an open area i would take my Serbu 50BMG, but if on foot my Savage 308 because of the weight. i think i would stick with the HK as for the pistol unless 9mm was readly available then my Glock 17.

there are too many things that could make me opt for another gun though. if i had a buddy and a truck my 1919a6 would be hard to beat but im not carrying that thing to the mailbox. i have a hard time picturing our troops carrying that across countrys on their shoulders durring wwii.

i guess if the real question was to what you would see if you came out to me house at night? 12ga everytime. my fav is the M1 590 with 3" 00buck

...but I'm letting you bring the rifle and pistol of your choice.

What's it going to be and why? If I get to chose any Rifle I want I'd probably bring a XM-8 Rifle because it's a couple of pounds lighter than the M-4 & M-16. Plus you have more features with the XM-8 Rifle (Heckler & Koch) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/Tedwantsthemdead/XM-8BattleRifle.jpg

Type of Equipment:
Battle rifle

Killer Features:

Flexible, heavy-duty weapons platform accommodates rifle and grenade launcher
Polymer "shell" can be replaced with shells of different colors, to blend in with environment
All weapon attachments, barrels, butts, and optics can be switched out by operator, without special tools or maintenance
Improved "pusher" gas piston cuts down on weapon jammingArmament:

Base configuration fires Remington .223 (a.k.a. the 5.56mm NATO) bullets; 20 mm grenades
Attachments include XM320 40mm single shot grenade launcher, and LSS (lightweight stand-off shotgun) 12-gauge shotgun that fires 2.75" and 3" 12 gauge shells. The XM-8 is a model of efficiency in use: its operation controls are ambidextrous, it has three firing modes (single round, three-round burst, and fully automatic), and can handle a variety of magazines, including a 30 round semi-opaque (to allow the shooter to see how many rounds are left in the magazine) hard plastic magazine, which can be rapidly reloaded in close combat situations, and a 100-round drum (for sustained fire), as well as 10-round weapon qualification magazines and M-16 style metal magazines. [Coffee]My pistol would be my Beretta M9.
