Tell me what I need to know about applying for a CCW in Denver county. Wait times, how cooperative they are, etc.
Thank you.

The state requires them to issue if you meet the statutory requirements, and sets a 90-day timeframe to process your application. Check the denver gov't website for information.

I'm always puzzled why people ask about wait times. The statute requires issuance or denial with cause w/in 90 days. Some jurisdictions process some applications faster, but not all even among those. Some jurisdictions wait the statutory time to cover their backsides.

Been a couple of years. The only real inconvience was having to pay for parking when I went to get my pic and fingerprints taken. Its at the police station, behind metal detectors, so just leave your knives or anything TSA unfriendly at home. Better service than the DMV.
It's the law. It's their job. Leave the drama to the actors in Hollywood.

This. Same thing for NFA wait times, without fail
The average wait time for CCW approval is 90 days, less depending on how many applicants have applied the same time you did. Counties like Denver who had Statewide CCW law rammed down their Home Rule Charter, drag it out to the max.
OUTSIDE OF A Restraining order, something in your past you neglected to include with the app. Or a felon trying to sneak past the CBI, there is no reason for you to be denied a permit.
the only problem with denver you should have is the app intake times suck.

I applied for mine on July 17,nothing yet,you have to call a number to set an appointment,no one answers, you have to leave your name number etc, they called me back three days later with available times for me to come down, note the times are from 10-2 how convenient,so miss some work pay to park etc,its really that easy
Like mentioned, its not a big deal. Same as any other county.
dtbighit, described the process perfectly, simple as that.
And they will tak eall 90 days to process, so dont expect a phone call sooner. I had to call on day 92 and then it was ready 4 days later, so it was 96 days for me
We have a 2 month wait to turn in mine and the girfriends apps , this is in Denver. Then the 90 days after that. Pretty bummed.
Is a seperate appointment needed for finger printing and pics ?

If that wait is discouraging, don't contemplate NFA items, patience is just part of the game.

They will fingerprint and photograph you at your appointment

Yea I know , that's next ! Waiting is better than not having privileges at all.
Also thanks btbighit.

I'm in Denver county and got my ccw approval letter in the mail 75 days after I applied. Everything went smooth for me. The cop behind the window was really cool. When I was ready to leave he said "Thank you for taking the time to carry concealed legally".

Got my call back for an appointment today - November 27th. And here I was thinking I was backlogged at work being a week or two behind.
I guess on the plus side i've got plenty of time to test out belts and holsters...

Does Denver even sign off on NFA? I had heard they didn't.
