Give us your opinion on the future of the Century 16 movie theater.
The city of Aurora is asking for public input on what should be done with the movie theater. Please take a few minutes to provide your thoughts at the following link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DLJCQZ2
The city will share the public comments with Cinemark, owners of the theater.

Seems like the City of Aurora ought to butt out of a decision by a private property owner.

My response.

"It should not be the city's decision. This is a private business and as such the decision should be theirs and theirs alone. However should they decide to reopen, they should take stock of the policy that prohibits the basic right to self defense, ie. the no concealed carry signs posted at the theater, just one responsible armed citizen could have saved many lives. "

I think a public poll might be a good idea just so we can show some support on how to make our city better for those of us that live here. They are giving this info to the theater owners. Just a thought.

My thoughts exactly. If someone thinks it should be shut down they should raise the money themselves to buy it. From individuals. No government involvement at all.

^This was my first thought too, but then it occurred to me maybe the property owner is interested in public sentiment. After all, if everyone in a community wants your business to go away for some reason, it probably won't be profitable to stay there. I responded anyway:

"The theater should continue operation as usual, with the single exception that management consider a policy change to allow patrons to protect themselves and their families by carrying their own firearm if legally allowed to do so."

That's actually a really good one and I feel stupid now with mine.

Just did my survey. I thought the future of the theater be left to them and not the city. I do however thing maybe a nice memorial would be nice to see.

First off the Company conducting the survey is "Survey Monkey" ? Second this link supposedly originates from "Facebook" ? Personally I think they should turn it into a small arms range dedicated to the victims, but I am not going to participate in the poll.

Sureveymonkey is not a "Survey Company"...it is a survey service. They provide a survey-style website and allow anyone (including the City of Aurora) to customize and generate a survey; the content and questions are controlled by the client (in this case the City of Aurora).

So...

The questions were generated by "The City of Aurora" and the results will be provided to "The City of Aurora"; Surveymonkey is just a free "vehicle" to collect survey results....

I've participated (and generated) surveys for my company using Surveymonkey.

Go to Surveymonkey and check it out for yourself.http://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/lp/createsurveys/?utm_network=g&utm_term=survey+monkey&utm_campaign=e&gclid=CIytyOSohLICFac7MgodERoATA&pmt=e&utm_source=adwords&mkwid=s5v7KRGEu&utm_medium=ppc&source=SearchNetwork&cmpid=brand&pcrid=24337567789&kw=survey+monkey

Been said already. Private business, why is the city trying to get involved?

While not an Aurora citizen, Cinemark is also here in the Springs.

Here was my survey response:

Allow the theater to remain open so long as they respect patrons right to self protection. Time to do away with the "gun free zone" for law-abiding citizens.

My response:

"It is a movie theater. Show movies in it. If people want popcorn and jujubees, sell those to them too."

Seeing as the theater is a private business the City of Aurora, has no business in the decision, nor should they involve themselves. If the theater does reopen perhaps Cinemark will look at their failed policy of preventing citizens legally allowed to do so to defend themselves, while creating a 'target rich environment'. The policy seems to work out for those willing to break the law, but not so much for those who abide by it.

Exactly, WTF does the city feel they can even comment on it. [Bang]
