I bought a Dupage/Boyds WWII profile M1 stock set awhile back, and finally got it finished. The Dupage WWII profile was definitely a lot smaller than the Boyds profile, but I still had to plane and sand off a boatload of wood to get the buttplate and ferrules just where I wanted them. I wanted the wood just slightly larger than flush with the metal parts and it was too fat to suit me.

I know it's not as dark and reddish as the purists would prefer, but I like it. I'd be happier if it were quarter-sawn and not sapwood, but whattya want for a $100 stock. At least it's walnut.

Finally got 'er done, just wanted to show it off. Four coats of 100% pure tung oil cut 50/50 w/ mineral spirits, then an hour soaking with Fairtrimmers. Also has two coats of Tom's 1/3 Military Stock Wax.

A few more. Everybody likes gun pron! I actually bought this rifle several years ago from a board member here that lived in Parker, can't recall who it was and don't know if he's still around here. It's a '43 Springfield. I had all the metal parts reparkerized and reblued awhile back by Chuckindenver, except for the triggerguard, it's a recent replacement.

That looks really nice. I'm refinishing my cheap .22 stock right now and I hope it turns out looking that good.

That's awesome. How much did the park job and stock run you? I have a '43 Springfield as well and after looking at your photos, I might want to give it some love.

Park job was $175 from Chuckindenver, a board member and local guy. In business as Warpath Vintage, up near Rocky's Autos.

Stock is an unfinished walnut set from Dupage Trading Co., cost about $100. It's made by Boyd's, for Dupage, to their dimensional specs, but it still was a little too large for me so I whittled it down a little more. The Boyds stocks are just freakin' huge, IMO. But the action fits nicely. You'll still need to make some clearance for the barrel, oprod, etc.
