Hello all-new guy here. Looking to get into 3 gun next spring and was wondering if there were any shoots coming up that I could come and learn a thing or three (as I'm fond of saying)?
Would like to get the low-down so I can prep and ponder over the winter months.

Thanks

holy crap! $30 for 3 stages seem a bit steep. I dont think they are going to get many shooters @ $10 a stage.

Yeah it's a bit high for a 3 stage match, but it's a match.

Just FYI, the Rivers Edge August 3 Gun match was their first 3 Gun match. Before that is was just a Tactical Rifle match, so I'm hoping they'll only get better from now on.

My shotgun is with my dad back in CA. Should I just go buy a cheapo 870? I imagine there's no such thing as a loaner shotgun at typical matches.

I shot my first IDPA match last weekend (FRIDPA) and now have a competition lust. Have always wanted to try 3-gun.

Sure there are loaner shotguns. Or at least friendly people. I used to tell people to bring a friendly attitude and ammo and things would probably work out. I'm sure if you find the thread of the match you're planning on attending and sending up a request then someone would probably help out. If you go to Lake George send me a PM.

Of course an 870 is cheap, useful, and a good gun to have around anyway.

If you are coming to the Lake George match, bring some shells and I will bring my spare 870....

Ahhh man you guys are amazing, thanks! Actually, the gf surprised me and says she wants to go skeet shooting tomorrow, her treat. So far that's the only shooting that she really likes (she's taken a ladies-only NRA 1st-steps pistol class, but they just shot buckmarks and she wasn't thrilled with it.. I still need to get her introduced to > 9mm which she might like better), and she's never shot rifle before. Baby steps!

So LakeG is out for tomorrow, but I plan to do 3-Gun at some point. I really appreciate the offers and advice! In the meantime, going to start saving for a shotgun.

Doesn't a response like that just warm your heart? Lake George is the 22nd by the way.
