Over the years, I have seen a lot of smoke shop/cigar store Indian figures and here is a typical looking one:

Here is a much more modern looking one:

OK, now who knows what this little gadget is:

May be a cigar for the fourth person who will post the correct answer of what this gadget actually does/did....
Good luck!!

Yeah, this gadget is just a wee bit older than I am. The answers are pretty darn close but they have to be refined somewhat.[Tooth]

Yep, tobacco PLUG cutter it is. As a kid, I remember the most popular brand of plug in my area was Horseshoe and next popular was Days Work. Old farts would use a dull old pocket knife to whack off a chew size. Guess no one ever just took a chaw on their plugs for fear of pulling their false teeth out. One tough old geezer used to take a big chunk, play cards (euchre) and never spit for hours. Bet he didn't have any worms in his system. I do have one well aged Perodi (one of those strong little crooked, hard cigars) for whoever was the first guy to answer the quiz. Guess that'll be sellersm but he'll have to drive down to Trinidad to collect this stout little cigar prize.[ROFL1]

Thanks, but I'll let someone else have it.

I remember guys using their knives to cut them as well. I seem to recall one old guy that had a woodshop setup in his house, and he'd use the bandsaw-type saw to cut! I always wondered how he made it to his age... I grew up in a small town in Western, NY where there were 3 furniture factories, and many guys had some cool tools in their homes!

Oops, you are absolutely correct.
lifeon2 was actually the fourth (4th) guy to furnish the correct answer. Now the little old cigar belongs to him and all he has to do is drive down to Trinidad to receive the prize. Sorry but the prize is not transferable so it can only be picked up by him and was available for 4 hours after the time he furnished the correct answer. Time is up in 6 minutes so looks like the prize is forfeited and I'll have to smoke this lil stogie myself.......[ROFL1][ROFL2][ROFL3]

A little late to the party. Without Googling, it looks like a cutter for cigars and plugs.

So what is a cigar plug? Is that why there were people chewing on cigars in Bugs Bunny cartoons, but when ever I tried it they fell apart in my mouth?
