My son and I are getting pumped. Still lots of dove around, should be good. I will play my stupid card here and ask, what is a dove bucket. My only guess is to sit on and later use to pick up doves.

@ssgenuine you are correct. I put all my decoys and shotshells in it, and it has a spinning seat

Im free to go on Saturday if someone up north knows of a spot and wants to drag me and my dog along. I was thinking about going to the banner lakes SWA if that sounds good.

Totally ready, we have 4 guys and two huge places with tons of birds and are all set.
we'll hunt Sat, Sun and Mon in the am and evenings.

I look forward to fall dove like I do the Mothers day caddis hatch on the Ark. Its pure good times and tradition.

Hey Ranger, Wallyworld in Parker has them (now that I know what they are). I picked one up this afternoon and they had 3-4 more. Right across from the ammo counter on bottom shelf. $14.97.

Probably about what time I leave too so I can make it out to the house for some coffee. Hunting in Wyo at my pops place sure is convenient. If I didn't have a week old baby I would leave today and not even be tired but thus is life, just glad that it looks like I will get the day in.

I got rid of the wife and girls ALL weekend. A friend of ours who we went to hell and back with when her husband was dianosed and died from a brain tumor wanted to take us to Glenwood for the weekend as a thank you. I graciously opted out and turned this into a guys hunting weekend extravaganza.

Its last call grab that last beer or bourbon and finish it up and get some shut eye. Doves fly best early.

Got 12 but it was way disappointing from last year. Should have shot limits by 10am.

Few more than 12 shots though

went to bed at 2am, up at 430 like clockwork.

our normal gangbuster spot was lackluster today. 4 of us shot 40+ birds between the AM and PM. PM was WAY slower than I have ever seen it.

going to a different place we hunt tomorrow to see if things change.

I have never seen so many people out on opening day, at the Pueblo State wildlife area west side of resevoir. Good note the sunflowers are out of control and there was lots of water holes

Didn't get to go. Guy I was supposed to go with on private ground had something come up with work and didn't get to go either. I wasn't going to head out to a SWA. so instead we went and looked at new vehicles...I'm now in more debt[Tooth]

Managed to get 3 birds in 4-1/2 hours ; very disappointing bird count where I was.

Just got back with 02Ducky on private land. First time going opening weekend and was a bit of a disappointment.

10 between the two of us from sunrise til noon. Apparently that spot usually bags out by 9:30 the first few days of season. Hope to have better luck next weekend.

On a positive note, took the Vinci out for the first time. First shot = dead dove.

3 of us imited and did not even see a collared dove. It did cost me almost 2 boxes of ammo.
I took too many long distance shots.. but when shooting at singles I had nothing to loose.
It was hard hunting single fliers and the temp Sat where I was maxed out at 106 degrees and was 101 degrees from noon till 4:30.

Yes this was in Colorado .... somewhere long the Arkansas River.

Timpas River was dry and not a bird to be seen.
