I have been wanting to purchase an 8 round revolver from S&W. I heard that IDPA limits revolvers to 6 rounds. Is this so?
I thought that 8 rounds plus 2 re-loads would make using a revolver more appealing. No way am I going to use my 5 round snubby in competition!

Comments please!

With a revolver, you can use an 8 round gun, but you can only load it with 6 rounds. It must have a barrel length of 4.2" or less (as measured from the front of the cylinder). Must be a .38 caliber. (.357” or larger) and can NOT not be reloaded with a full moon clip. Maximum unloaded weight is 42 oz.

I was kinda looking for a S&W 627 for competition, when someone dropped a Taurus 608 in my lap. THEN I looked at the rules. Oops

"With a revolver, you can use an 8 round gun, but you can only load it with 6 rounds."

That is bad! Click, click, bang!

Lets have an IDPA stage for just wheel guns...

The ones we carry, 5, 6 or 8 shoots.

6X3=18 rounds.....

Hows about that guy?????

Just load 8 rounds and declare "outlaw" division.

Thats where we put people that knowingly break equipment rules but still want to play the game. Kinda like loading 17 rounds in a Glock mag or 8 rounds in a revo, ect...
