sadly it doesn't matter. No one died. Racial incidents happen all the time. If racism is going to stop in America, it will take both sides to stop using names or race at all. Instead the story should say "3 men attacked a man while he was with his girlfriend". no mention of color, no mention of anything.

same with job applications. Put down your name, and your education and work history. Color, religion, etc should not matter one bit. If you meet the job qualifications and you are the best candidate...you get the job. If not, it doesn't matter that you are white/gay/black/mexican etc.
