View Full Version : Looking for your input.
I'm looking for a Scope/Red Dot or someting along these line. I'm almost finished building another AR, and I want to put something on it. the AR will be used for Plinking, steel and thinking of trying 3-Gun. Thanks for your Help
AR is 16" 1-7 .
What distances and size of targets?
Uselly 100 yds or closer for plinking, I don't know what distances are for 3-gun.
It's really a matter of personal preference and your budget.
I would love an ACOG but just haven't talked myself into spending that kind of money.
Red dots are popular but some people just don't care for them.
Eotech makes an awesome optic but the reticle looks blurry to me so I have to stay away from them.
Low magnification scopes are pretty popular at 3-gun matches.
Hope this clears things up for you. [Coffee]

I've gone through a lot of optics over time. Right now i have a AR332 burris i;m running on a 10.5 ar. Goof FOV and clarity @1-200 yds. Have not shot more than that. For my eyes its gtg. Price point wise you could buy it or even the AR556 with more magnification and not have a hole in you pocket. Not a high end optic but works.
I really like the TAO1NSN ACOG, even had one sometime back. Just out of my wallet range, especially for the use or lack of it would get.
My wife has a MTAC from burris on her 16" ar . She was hardcore red dot, red dot, blah, blah, blah. Took her out tues morn to road test the new optic, now all i here is WOW not only can i see that far, but hit it as well.
There are a lot of good options out there. If you have the opportunity to road test a few even better.

I have a mix of acogs and aimpoints. I love the acogs but cant afford them any more. I would reccomemd the ta33 acog. Like jim said the burris stuff is nice and has a good price tag. Im with ray on the eotech the retical is all blury for me also. Aimpoints what can you say if you want a non magnified red dot there the way to go, they are rock solid and bullet proof and the battery life is amazing.
