I visited both store today, knowing that I would not find an M&P Shield or a Walther PPS. GP was clean and well stocked, the staff was three young guys; knowledgable and friendly. I considered a Beretta Nano but the lack of a slide release was too quirky for me. I took a good look at the XD SC in 9mm for $475. It seemed a bit high to me even though I've been out of the country for several years and I wasn't up to date. Since everything else seemed pricey ($550 for an SKS (!) even if it was Russian. So I headed up Countyline to SS.
A small store, not as well stocked, but very friendly staff and the owner Jay was there which is always a nice thing. I ended up buying the XD for $60 less than GP.

That'll pretty much always sum it up when comparing GP prices.

-1 for the shooting shack from me...stopped by this afternoon, closed. Hours posted says they should be open, I won't waste my time again. It's sad because it's so close to me.

It's only because of the Tanner Gun Show being in town this weekend. A number of the small shops are closed on the Tanner weekends.

Sorry if I missed you I was either at the Tanner show or I took 1/2 a day off for my 25th Anniversary. Other than that I am here now M-SAT 9am to 7PM. Drop by and I will make it right with you.

Starting off on the right foot in my book.

I would take Jay up on his offer. He's a man of his word & I doubt you will ever regret doing business with him.

That's customer service, even if he did play the anniversary card:)

Wow, impressive response.
I stopped in the SS one day when I was out and in the area. Cool little shop nice guys and seemed like a good vibe
I will say that this is one of the very few gun shop reviews that gives credit to a good staff. Most gun shop employ douches and everyone gripes about them. I will stop by next time I go to the city.

I had good interactions at both places.
I went to SS a couple of weeks ago after the young guy who works there posted here on the forum. I believe I met him while I was there. Very nice. Shop is close to the house and the consignment aspect intrigued me. The store is just getting going, so inventory is limited, but they appear to want to help out any way they can, ordering, FFL transfers, etc.
I've been to GP a couple of times. Prices are high, but one time I was there and was nosing around the safes, a manager came over and talked to me. He offered me an outstanding deal on one of the safes, that I had to very reluctantly turn down for lack of funds. I've kicked myself a couple of times over not taking the deal.
Just my $.02.
