Serious, not a pretty sight to see. One place i worked thought it would be haha funny for me to try an energy drink. 2-3 sips and 10 minutes later, i think SWAT ended up responding, last time they tried that with anyone.[ROFL1]

Used to drink a full 12 cup pot a day, usually in the space of an hour or two. Got to drinking one E drink a shift (nights). Finally found that I had to have more and more or it just plain wasn't saving me from shift work problems.

I'm off the E drinks though I think if you are not imbibing as a regular diet item they are still a nice emergency kick. (Specifically ones like Rockstar 2x the 320mg one, the standard 80mg cans of most brands are stupid as it's basically a $2.50 mug of coffee.) I'll still have a cup or two halfway through the shift to boost me on into sunrise where I naturally wake up.

That's gateway coffee. Sure, first you start out with cream and sugar, and then one day all there is at the office is that powdered creamer, and soon enough you'll find that you'll be willing to just take it black.

A couple of years down the road you'll be stopping at gas stations with day old burnt out coffee just to get your fix.

I don't like the energy drinks at all. Only drink coffee on the night hitch now, 1 week a quarter and only 1 cup a night then.

Had a friend in college that was a barista and I got hooked on the iced coffee for a bit. Not the sugared up stuff either it was straight black coffee that was iced. Some kind of fancy bean brewed in a French press and was really good.

I drink a lot of coffee and ice tea. I haven't had caffeinated pop since the early 90's when I began competitive shooting.
I tried a 5 hour energy drink one time at around 1 AM when we were coming back from a transfer to Denver General. I was wired for the next 15 hours. That was my one and only experience with energy drinks.
I don't know if life would go on at the station if there wasn't a coffee pot. It gets pretty miserable if we run out of coffee. A lot of people don't realize that can be a life or death situation.

I've had coffee long ago in the past, but I just don't drink it anymore. Haven't for many years now actually. No energy drinks or candy either.... if I'm drinking something carbonated, there's also alcohol mixed in it too. Not much on sweets unless its actual fruit or juice. Caffeine can be found in tea and though I don't drink a lot of it, I do have tea on occasions.

Water is my drink though.

when cleaning ranges or shooting for the day ill take 2 Thermos's full and usually stop at the gas station for that delicious day old burnt stuff . i did stop drinking the stuff black when i cut down my cig intake to only a pack a day and my jim beam down to a pint or less a day . i now take cream / sugar , no more than 3 shots in 2 days and and no more than a pack every 2 1/2 days . im in no danger of slowing down the coffee but the booze and cigs are slowly leaving the daily life (booze all but gone , cigs are gonna take a few ). i cant imagine a live without coffee , jim and all you non caffeine type are crazy in one sense, in another it just leaves more for me [Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee][Coffee]

I like GOOD coffee, real black licorice (not that fake stuff that they call licorice in most of the US), hoppe's #9, gunsmoke, and the smell of cosmoline (mostly because it usually accompanies "new" surplus toys)...all acquired tastes. Of course, I understand beer is an acquired taste; I seem to have acquired it a long time before it was legal to!

Too much caffeine, no matter the source, actually makes me highly prone to violence. Quit drinking coffee long ago (largely due to flavor though not because of the rage issues), but if I even have too much tea the wife has mentioned I start bitching at political adds if I hear them, anyone driving what I consider "too fast" on my road, I become rather easy to go postal over the most trivial of things... yeah caffeine and I aren't always the best combination.

Wife's observations about alcohol however.... a little does wonders for slowing my thought process down to actually communicate with almost anyone. Otherwise when sober those around me tend to just know "He's in Badger mode" and leave me to my devices.... any and all questions they might have will be answered upon the completion of whatever it is I'm doing LOL.

Have always hated the taste of coffee. Don't drink tea, used to drink a lot of Coca-Cola, but my weakness is chocolate -- any kind of chocolate. So at Starbucks I typically do raspberry flavored hot chocolate.
