View Full Version : can someone school me on bittorrents
everytime i have tried to download one my computer its gotten herpes i have no idea of what sites to go on or software to use
utorrent with atleast 2 virus programs running. the key is to read the comments about the torrent not just blindly grabbing.
utorrent on a VMware session of WinXp. Scan, HashCalc and Scan again before moving to your real machine. That said, subscribe to a real news group server and dump Torrents.

I think the program is called; bittorrent and search Deleted
Read the comments before you get the bittorrent, look for ones were people say how good it is and works perfect or were the author has perfected it.
good luck!!
I never acquire programs I haven't paid for and neither should you... Gonezo
Good luck!

Alternatively: usenet (http://lifehacker.com/5601586/how-to-get-started-with-usenet-in-three-simple-steps)
is Usenet safer than bittorrenf? (http://lifehacker.com/5905756/is-usenet-safer-than-bittorrent)

There you go. Vuze works very well and sources many clients (including those mentioned here) simultaneously. This part, gone too.
Quote gone
This part too
And here too, sigh
As with any internet activity, you need several layers of defense. Router/firewall, AV, anti-Malware. I run only one AV, but several anti-malware products.
The advice to run a virtual machine (VM) is good. Virtualbox is free and works well for most.
I just gave up on the whole bitorrent thing. Best to find a geek friend to help you get setup if you don't know the basics.
