My friend Troy has started this business/non-profit:
http://spaceunited.org/

And currently he is looking for someone to fabricate a Tie Fighter for the business. This is supposed to be launched into space. Not full size, but a micro-satellite.

Anyone here know of a shop, or guy who could fabricate something along these lines?

Here is his e-mail. I have no idea of budget constraints or anything of that line. And didn't go into dimensions with him on this. He wanted to know if I could fabricate him one. I said I could put it together, but fabricate is a whole different ball of wax.

Not really his goal.

It would be a nice unintended consequence though and I am serious, I hope he does. Good ideas should be rewarded. I can't donate but I will check in on his site once in a while to see where it takes us.

I am no propulsion engineer, but I fear that the miniaturization of the Twin Ion Engines is going to prove to be a difficult task simply as the power sources are so limited.

Just my 2 cents

Can I just give you your money back?

It is just supposed to float around in orbit and then burn up is my thoughts.

well, the first one was sarcasm and you wanted to bust my balls about it. Your OP didnt say you wanted a non working Model
Ion Engines are a real technology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ion_thruster)
TIE in TIE Fighter stands for Twin Ion Engine.

Thank you for the vocab lesson. Never would have picked up on it otherwise.[Help]

That's what I was thinking. Do we have anyone on the board who does it? Or cnc machine.

Or cnc machine.

The shop I work at charges about 75 bucks an hour for shop time. Once you got it dimensioned, programed, materials bought and cut and actually ran one off (your looking at multiple ops on a shape that wont be easy to fixture) you would easily be looking at way over a grand (probably more) to have one made that way.
